Elsa's fucking shoe

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 27/12/2014 09:37

I have just spent an HOUR looking for Elsa's missing shoe. It's only the 27th and it's already cost me an hour. I now have both shoes. Would I be unreasonable to glue the fuckers on, or hide them until she's old enough to find them herself?!?

(in case anyone is in a similar predicament, it was in the basket on the front of the hideous pink bike bloody Santa Claus got her for Christmas).

No Elsas here but we lost Thomas from the train set for longer than we'd had him. I spent ages searching for that damned train and found him under a sofa cushion after DS had gone to bed about 5 hours later! I have serious issues about parts of toys being flung about the room and misplaced.

My DDs auntie gave them Monster High dolls last year. We went for a walk in the woods on Christmas Day - both dolls came back minus a limb.

TeddyBee · 30/12/2014 23:29

Oh yes. The left one keeps falling off. And hiding itself.

Helicoptopus · 31/12/2014 00:07

We had what I fondly refer to as the 'shitting barbie' - its dog comes with both bones and poo, each about 3mm long. Nearly all lost within 10 mins of opening the box despite setting up the most sterile, self contained play area I could muster given the obvious potential for the little blighters to jump off the table/under the sofa etc. All but one located by DH who spent an hour on his knees, bless him; the last was well and truly lost until tonight when trying to find the camera that DD2 has helpfully re homed. No camera but missing poo triumphantly discovered miles from the original search site.

heli what you needed for that is an old tight and the tube bit of a vacuum cleaner/handhedl vac...stretch the tight over the end and assuming your floors are not too grim (block the tight) you catch them in the tight ...
Stretch as far as you can without making holes big enough for 'poo' (or other ridiculously small item) through...

apotatoprintinapeartree · 31/12/2014 00:17

Not sure if anybody has suggested loom bands as straps across the shoes, wrap around a couple of times.

duplodon · 31/12/2014 00:29

Aaaaaaargh! Where is the T Rex's fucking right forearm/paw/claw.....

PinkPeanuts · 31/12/2014 01:29

Olaf doesn't talk, wiggle or giggle anymore. We MUST get him to a Dr Today mummy. Today. Today. We gave to take him to the Dr right now mummy.

Somehow explaining that mummy has to wait until tomorrow when she sees Aunty Pat for the sodding receipt isn't sufficient enough!

oobedobe · 31/12/2014 02:02

My boring tip Is if you find one shoe take it and put in a special child free place (kitchen draw type place) because eventually the other one shows up (never when you devote an hour looking for it though) and you get a wonderful aha moment... Until the next time they get lost... Dd2 would not be thrilled with me super gluing them on she is 2 and her favourite bit is dressing/undressing them all.

RandomNPC · 31/12/2014 02:05

You do realise that when something like that goes missing, it's the Little People who move it? You have to ask them (very nicely) for the thing back. You usually find it shortly thereafter.
I'm a rationalist atheist, but I still believe in the Little People! Blush

You will all be fascinated to hear that Elsa's crown turned up in the lint tray of the dryer. So at least my washing machine isn't fucked.

PolarExpressionist · 31/12/2014 07:22

Michaelangelo's throwing stars went missing in the first five seconds.

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 31/12/2014 07:38

Whowould - bless your heart for coming back to update us! I am glad it's found and there have been no emergency plumbing call outs!!

Apotato - DD is a bit young for loom bands and isn't really aware of them. I am hoping that if I never allow one in the house, the fad will have passed and we will never have to deal with them!!

Heartisaspade - "why did her parents die?"
"Why did Hans try and hit Elsa with his sword?"
"Why did Elsa hit Anna with her icy magic?"
"Why does Elsa sing Let It Go?"

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

mix56 · 31/12/2014 08:34

Audit angel, have you looked in the freezer ? yes I found my wallet there

Whowouldfardelsbear · 31/12/2014 10:04

No worries Turtle - i feel i have to point out i am in New Zealand and so updated at about 4.30 in the afternoon while walking my friend's dog in the drizzle. I don't really feel the need to wake up at 4am to check the dryer.

Obviously my life is so exciting I am now updating MN at 11 pm on NYE (though i have had a few too many wines and just holding out for midnight so i can reasonably got to bed).

Elsa's batteries are running out though, and rather than singing Let it Go she gives an evil and insane cackle. The knife drawer will be firmly locked tonight.

Quick boring lesson on glue.
Super glue was developed during the Vietnam war to glue flesh wounds together. It works best on two non-porous surfaces that are a perfect fit, mostly fixing breaks. It is not a good gap filler, bad for shoes, good for lego.
Araldite (brand name) Epoxy resin (real name) is a good gap filling glue, much better for gluing shoes on. Best done overnight, the quick set (4 hour) is not as strong as the 8 hour, but probably not important for a dolls shoe. Don't use an old tube (years), the chemicals go off and don't set, you're just left with a sticky mess, you could test on a bit of paper overnight.
Epoxy takes a bit more care but will work much better where super glue will fail.

I think I'm a little bit in love with you scaredycat Grin

The Nerf bullets will be behind the book case, in the toilet or the fish tank. That's where I found quite a few of ours.
