I can imagine how this thread is going to go, so I'll preempt it with:

1). Yes, I know I should have stayed away from all social media, and

2). Yes, it really is a first world problem.

But lots of people watch telly on catch-up and I was looking forward to watching the final with a bit of ironing later. Facebook is for posting pics of your kids and kitten videos. Not for spoilers dammit.

And it's not as if posting your congratulations to the winners is a scintillating read or anything.

Grrr!

Of course you're being unreasonable.

A huge chunk of the population spent their evening watching the show, if it meant that much to you you should have withdrawn from society till you'd had a chance to see it.

I got in trouble a couple of years ago for accidentally 'spoiling' the end of ET for someone..............30 years after it had been released.

YABU for watching that shite.

bubalou · 21/12/2014 20:36

I stayed away from all social media and news.

Popped into town at lunch to grab some last minute xmas bits etc and went into superdrygs.

The store only had the fucking radio on announcing the winner!!! ConfusedConfusedConfused

Finally watched strictly final. How come no-one prepared me for the "cheesy dancing like yer da, in-sync, with matching suits" of TT? Well worth the watch just for them mind you! Grin

Merry Xmas one and all Xmas Wink

RedTinsel · 24/12/2014 16:53

Ha ha I'd forgotten about TT. I mean the place for embarrassing dad dancing is not when you've got half a dozen fit professional dancers giving it loads in front of you.

I got told off for posting a so called spoiler on facebook. She put "No spoilers please, I don't intend to watch it till all parts have been aired - so I can watch it in one go."
To be honest I thought she was out of line, she wanted me to keep quiet for 3 weeks (or longer to allow time for her to fit watching it all in one sitting in to her time table). The show was filmed very near my home, in the town we both live in, and where most of our friends live. Of course it was going to be top of our posting fodder, as it was on the local paper facebook page (which she also subscribes to..).
Thing is, I hadn't even posted a real spoiler, it was more of a "can't believe they filmed that scene just metres from our school!" - didn't give away the ending.
IMO, once it has been aired on TV it is fair game for comment. If you don't want to know it is up to you to avoid all possible media outlets till you have seen it.
