yeah I wouldn't buy a light colour personally. marks too easily.

ChickenMe · 18/12/2014 20:33

Gosh would people automatically think 'boy' just for that? I admit I would think 'girl' if I saw a pink buggy but that's cos pink is more strongly girl than blue is boy.
Weirdly I'd think girl with mauve, peach or purple but not red.
Re wearing blue I have always thought navy blue is the best and most flattering colour in the world!!!

royaldavescity · 18/12/2014 20:42

Why do you think it would BU? Are you worried that she would grow up to be gay, or transgender, because of the "wrong" colour pushchair?

Or are you worried that people will think you're strange for not having a pink one?

I don't get why you would even give it a thought. Buy the pushchair you like in the colour you like.

AlexD72 · 18/12/2014 20:54

All my prams/buggy shave been black. Don't show the marks and I really do not like bright pink ANYTHING

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 18/12/2014 20:59

Oh, I thought this was going to be about practicality. You know, light blue might mark. Like how I won't buy pink shoes.

But seriously someone has suggested it's an issue to buy a blue buggy for a female child? Your friend is odd, odd, odd.

WhereIsMySantaHat · 18/12/2014 20:59

A lady at my gym has this colour for her daughter, it's really nice.

I always found black showed lots of marks, white scuffs etc. Red is the best colour I've had for hiding marks.

SaucyJack · 18/12/2014 21:01

With all due respect...... I couldn't care less what colour pushchair you buy.

BikeRunSki · 18/12/2014 21:03

I got a navy blue pushchair for dd. She is now 3 and refuses to wear dresses, skirts or tights. Maybe it was because she had a blue pushchair?

Mehitabel6 · 18/12/2014 21:13

Buy whatever you like- it never crossed my mind that you would buy a colour assocIated with a child- I thought you got one you liked. Whatever do those with DSs and DDs do?

mollypollly · 18/12/2014 21:30

Thanks everyone, I have ordered it Smile

I was just interested to know if others thought it was unusual to have a blue buggy for a girl, given my friend's reaction. Sorry to those who seemed to think it an outrageous question, and saucyjack, not sure why you wasted your time posting that?! How odd.

I was bought a pink pushchair for my dd.... I irrationally hate it. Mostly I hate not being consulted... And the buyer knows I hate the pink obsession that little girls end up having because everything is FECKIN PINK

Actually hate is a bit strong, on reflection!

It was a gift and I am grateful.

slightlyconfused85 · 18/12/2014 21:55

I had a dark blue denim buggy for DD when she was a baby. If anyone thought she was a boy I neither knew or cared. Don't see why it matters

liquidstateisonthemulled · 18/12/2014 22:45

I have a red buggy for DD - people still think she is a boy as apparently it is a boy's colour Confused

SaucyJack · 18/12/2014 23:16

"and saucyjack, not sure why you wasted your time posting that?! How odd."

Sorry. It was a bit sharp.

Your friend is the weird one tho. No one gives a monkey about girls in pale blue really.

Ericaequites · 19/12/2014 03:40

As long as it's washable or wipe clean, it's perfectly reasonable. Boys can wear pink, girls light blue. In 1961 , when my mum was expecting DC2, she bought my sister a red snowsuit in case DC2 was a boy. My brother could wear it next without questions.

Bulbasaur · 19/12/2014 03:46

YABU. If girls don't get pink things they'll grow a penis. Everyone knows that.

Romeorodriguez · 19/12/2014 04:34

I didn't even know this was a thing. It is a buggy, why does it matter what colour it is?
