to think the Apprentice must be extremely edited this year- Suggs' decisions seem frankly bizarre

Just that really, I know there is already an Apprentice fred but I just needed to unleash the wrath before we all moved on to the final. Is it me or must Sugar and Nick and even lovely Karen have been watching something completely different to me? Some of their decisions and comments seem nonsensical. I mean the whole Daniel thing boggles my mind... He seems a deluded, ridiculous, irritating, misogynistic- I could go on! And yet he was given chance after chance after chance after chance? DS and DD think Alan sees a good hard working Jewish boy like himself and so pushed him through. The fact that he was fired after Roisin (sp?)infuriates me like nothing else.
Does anyone else feel the same? AIBU? I just feel like it must have been hugely edited, this series more than the previous ones, because the decisions dont seem to make sense. I need closure! And if anyone knows what Roisin is doing now, I need to know she's doing alright even though she was robbed Xmas Angry

So the business plan thing is a bit rubbish, I agree with a pp, why bother having candidates whose business plans are rubbish in the first place? They should only invite people on with reasonable plans. Then, in the first episode of the programme, they should all present their business plans and then the worst 4 should be sent home. Although that's all a bit Dragon's Den, isn't it. Hmm. This is why I don't try and write telly programmes.

MarjorieMelon · 18/12/2014 16:22

I really don't like Karen. Nick seems a pleasant fair person but not keen on Karen at all I would hate for her to be my boss.

Jamrollypolly · 18/12/2014 16:28

I used to love watching The Apprentice, especially the year they had Simon and Trey, you really felt you got to know the contestants, it's really gone down hill since then. It's turned a bit like Big Brother, they just want to show us people fighting.

I still watch it though.

Grapeeatingweirdo · 18/12/2014 18:24

Agree it's really cruel. Roisin was so good and a real contender. I really liked Solomon as well. Why on earth did she waste all of that time going through week after week just to be felled by something she had given the producers when she applied!

SomethingFunny · 18/12/2014 18:34

Didn't they say that Roisin left her job in October 2013? Does anyone know the timescales of when they film the series and when the interviews would have happened?

I hate the whole getting rid of people because of their business plans being rubbish in week 11/12. I don't think they should be on the programme at all if their business plan isn't up to scratch. Grrrr.

Fixerupperz · 18/12/2014 18:38

I assume or was summer 2014, it's summery IYSWIM.

Fixerupperz · 18/12/2014 18:39

To add i thought roisin was going to win. I kind of liked Daniel Blush

Fixerupperz · 18/12/2014 18:39

I think roisin will be snapped up somewhere, same as Solomon.

SomethingFunny · 18/12/2014 18:45

If it was filmed in the summer, what was Roisin doing for over 6 months? Hmmm.

Fixerupperz · 18/12/2014 18:52

Market research on 6 people.

MarjorieMelon · 18/12/2014 19:00

I do like watching The Apprentice it is very entertaining but not to be taken too seriously. Dh calls it GCSE Business Studies and I have to say he isn't far wrong. I was slated for a piece of coursework that I handed in for GCSE Home Economics because my market research was conducted outside only one supermarket.

It amazes me when Alan gushes about the contestants when it gets close to the final. I helped out with a year 4 enterprise project and I saw more creativity and common sense from a bunch of 9 year olds and I'm not exaggerating.

springalong · 18/12/2014 19:16

I thought the skeleton was inspired genius and that SrAlan would love it. Shows me what I know.

I was gutted when Roisin was fired - she had been such a good candidate. But good god, her business idea was crap, the plan was crap. It is pity that they don't give them time to revise based on what they have learned during the previous weeks. Although she seemed pretty set.

MarjorieMelon · 18/12/2014 19:21

I think if they had put the skeleton together it would have been allowed that was their mistake. It's not rocket science though I'm sure we could all do just as well as just as bad as they do.

Kelly1814 · 18/12/2014 19:23

Here's an interesting fact for you: it's not shot over 11 weeks. Closer to two......friend worked on the last series.

They do a task almost every day so it's actually really gruelling.

katese11 · 18/12/2014 19:54

They filmed the first task at the start of Sept...I saw the man in the hotdog suit in Shoreditch!

emotionsecho · 18/12/2014 19:59

I liked Roisin, although I did question her abilities when she lost the plot on the candle task. As an accountant she should have been all over the cost/profit ratio and she wasn't, just dropped the price at the first opportunity to sell the product.

Also, the produce a new pudding task and put it in front of these three chosen retailers may have lulled her into thinking her plan had legs, and they didn't properly cost out those products either.

Initially I thought Roisin was looking to produce ready meals to cash in on the no/low carb diets that are currently the 'in' thing at the moment, which could have been a good idea if done properly, didn't realise some magical, unheard of root was involved. However, apart from the magical root, her plan was so off the scale, she clearly has no knowledge of the Food Industry and the costs, and the difficulties in getting products into supermarkets and the time it takes, 250k would disappear in the blink of an eye.

Laquila · 18/12/2014 20:08

I cannot STAND it when Suralan says "I have laid on some appointments with major retailers for you", like he's done them a bloody favour. It's your jeffing SHOW - it'd be pretty bloody shit if you didn't arrange any appointments, YOU CLOWN.

Also, who uses "laid on" like that??! NO-ONE!!

emotionsecho · 18/12/2014 20:11

Yes Laquila I should imagine it's the weight of the BBC, not Suralan that achieves the appointments!

Yes emotions - I wouldn't mind so much if it'd showed him cold-calling the nation's shopkeepers for hours on end, introducing himself as Alan from Amstrad and using his quick-witted charm to get past the gatekeepers!

Laquila · 18/12/2014 20:20

Ooh Hesterton, good challenge. I'd have liked something involving Internet research in advance and maybe some cold-calling, actually!

ginghamcricketbox · 18/12/2014 20:25

They started filming in late April and finished in June and delayed broadcast because of the world cup and commonwealth games

Lovemypuppy · 18/12/2014 20:31

I really hope Mark doesn't win / he is so so arrogant I can't stand it

RedTinsel · 18/12/2014 20:44

I prefer the old way when he was hiring them for a job. At least then you saw the best candidate get through. This way it's all about the business plan.

I think Mark will win. He's already been succsesful in the type of business he wants to run. It's a safer bet for Sralan.

Though I much prefer Bianca.

I assumed it was all filmed in about a month with a couple of tasks a week. I can imagine its a pretty full on experience though, which explains why some of them make such stupid decisions.

JennySense · 20/12/2014 10:48

I'm looking forward to seeing what mark's business is really all about as I have one in the same industry and I have my own thoughts about the feasibility. I'm not sure what research he's done as his business name url has already been taken, so doesn't give me much confidence.

I'm guessing that bianca will be competing against the luxury end of the market like Fogel rather than m&s.

I know one of the candidates and have had a few interesting conversations...

I do think that there's an issue with the new format when you add in the business idea - too many good candidates with rubbish biz ideas this year.
