To not be able to stand Katharine Jenkins' voice?

Especially in her upper register? I can't understand what words she's supposed to be singing. It gives me the rage, I was always taught in singing lessons and county choir to enunciate clearly. No point in singing if no-one can understand you!

Her lower register's fine, BTW, even if what she does with her lips is just tortuous to watch.

By the way I do agree with everyone who thinks singers should enunciate clearly. I do get annoyed with all the singers who don't and I wonder how they sell so much music. Agree re Skyfall, skycrow crumblows or whatever it was above. I can hear KJ's words, well usually anyway. (I just hate the personal bitching on here. Why why why do it?)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/12/2014 16:31

I know someone who knows her very well, and every comment here about her horrible personality and lack of ability is an understatement.

atwitsendbutpaddlinghard · 20/12/2014 16:55

AnneEy
Shock
why the character assassination?? It's not clever, it's not amusing, it's just unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the debate

Chippednailvarnish · 20/12/2014 17:23

I didn't realise that we were only allowed to post things that everyone agrees with...

DandyHighwayman · 20/12/2014 17:29

Mighty guffaws at giving Michael Ball career advice Grin

KnackeredMerrily · 20/12/2014 17:44

More detail please AnneEyht! Grin

Minus2seventy3 · 21/12/2014 17:44

Why do you want more details Knackered? Not enough bile and nastiness to sate your appetite yet?
Shameful thread.
Do you all teach your children it's okay to slag folks off in such a manner? Great "mums" on here.

Tattiebogle · 21/12/2014 18:15

Is that you Katherine?

Celticlass2 · 21/12/2014 18:52

Tallie Grin I can imagne she's so vain that she does indeed Google herself fairly frequently.

Can't say I'd give a stuff if she read what's on here. She seems to elicit the same sort of reaction in most peopleSmile

Lilithmoon · 21/12/2014 18:53

Minus is a man, posting here to share his manly wisom.

Lilithmoon · 21/12/2014 18:53

*wisdom...

Gatekeeper · 21/12/2014 18:58

Just seen her on Songs of Praise carol service where she mimed badly.
Absolutely nothing going on behind the eyes

Beangarda · 21/12/2014 19:02

Gosh, Minus, thanks for enlightening us about what kind of conversation you approve of. Do you only put quotation marks around the word 'mums' if women with children fall off their pedestal in your eyes? Do you train your children to pipe up criticising Internet forums full of strangers?

Personally, as I've said all along, I know absolutely nothing about KJ as a human being. Her singing is beyond poor. I have friends who work in opera, and from their fulminations, I know that Angela Gheorghiu is unpleasant to work with - dismissive, sneery, ungenerous, liable to tantrums and refusals to attend rehearsals, but that doesn't alter my opinion of her singing at its best.

Minus2seventy3 · 21/12/2014 19:10

Lilith, a little uncalled for, perhaps? Or am I fair game for a snide attack for my gender?
I find the thread nasty, unnecessarily so. I have said as much. Not wisdom ("manly" or otherwise) on my part, just manners.

Lilithmoon · 21/12/2014 19:19

Um... pot, kettle, black. You are attacking my gender.

Minus2seventy3 · 21/12/2014 19:27

When did I attack your gender, Lilith?
The mums comment perhaps? I'd wager the (vast) majority on this board are women. And parents.
Thought parents were supposed to set an escape to kids? Here's something: I was brought up by both parents that if I didn't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

Chippednailvarnish · 21/12/2014 19:43

Set an escape to kids? Eh? Confused

Saying that you think KJ's voice, singing style and faux attempt at opera is crap, is not shameful. It's an opinion, which is what this forum invites, opinion.

Lying about her drug taking whilst projecting a squeaky clean image is what I consider shameful.

Trenzalore · 21/12/2014 19:47

why does she always have to be on every bleeding songs of praise?

Theres loads of singers out there.

David Grant could have sung something. Now HE has a good voice, and his wife.

Minus2seventy3 · 21/12/2014 19:48

Chipped... Was supposed to read "example" - predictive text fail.
Critique of her singing is fine and dandy.
Personal attacks are, in my opinion, in poor taste.
I stand by my posts on this thread.

Christelle2207 · 21/12/2014 19:57

She is exceedingly successful at what she does, so I must concede that that many people must like her. I think she's pretty rubbish and it annoys me greatly that she's referred to as an"opera singer" when no reputable opera company

Christelle2207 · 21/12/2014 20:01

...would touch her. However Russell Watson annoys me even more in tis respect as he is basically a competent busker, has never had any serious training. At least KJ did go to the Royal Academy, so should know better

NobodyLivesHere · 21/12/2014 20:07

I forget who was HG- I know it wasn't me lol.
Minus, I speak as I find people. She was unpleasant.

MorelliOrRanger · 21/12/2014 20:32

I haven't read the thread, but YANBU, I hate her voice.

MorelliOrRanger · 21/12/2014 20:38

Trenzalore, sorry I disagree.

David has a fab voice, Carrie is bloody dreadful though.

MrsJamin · 26/12/2014 20:16

Argh she just ruined the muppets itv special!
