Was my cat being unreasonable?

While I was out earlier, someone tried to deliver a parcel but had to leave a card and return the parcel to the post office. When putting the card through the door I think the cat must have nipped the delivery driver as there was a second card which just read 'Your pet bled my finger'. Cat was inside and letterbox is at waist height. Are they going to sue my ass? WMCBU?

Not possible to say at this stage.

I advise lying flat on the doormat, face up. Get someone (DP?) to wiggle their fingers through the letterbox at you.

Now. Observe carefully.

What does that look like to you?

Does it clearly resemble the Queen's Own Royal Mail Delivery Personage putting his fingers too far through the letterbox?
Then your cat is Unreasonable and should be reminded that the well-behaved Puss never stoops to dog-like behaviour, no matter what the temptation.

However, if they resemble:
Prawns
Worms
A burglar
Toy mice
Real mice
Or anything else, really
then your cat is quite obviously not unreasonable and deserves a nice warm place on the sofa and a delicious fish supper as a reward.

Our postman stopped putting the letters all the way through the letter box for this very reason Grin

MehsMum · 15/12/2014 20:46

Cats ARE unreasonable.

AnitaManeater · 15/12/2014 22:30

May I suggest a restorative justice session between your cat and the postman?

WellWhoKnew · 15/12/2014 22:34

The postman was being unreasonable. He should have posted some 'Dreamies'.

What's a cat supposed to do with a bit of paper?

They like boxes and Dreamies. Nowt else. Everyone knows that.

Moln · 15/12/2014 22:40

Does you cat think he's a doctor from the middle ages (or possibly a leech it's hard to know with cats)

Either way he's NBU. Obviously. He's a cat.

Moln · 15/12/2014 22:43

BTW my cat will be happy to represent your cat, pro bono, if it goes to court.

MadeinSouthWest · 15/12/2014 22:45

Surely postmen/women get training on how far into a letterbox their fingers should go?

However, I go with the cats are never unreasonable answer.

greeneggsandjam · 15/12/2014 22:49

I'm going for the minority vote and will say that your cat, and all other cats are unreasonable about EVERYTHING.

CatCushion · 15/12/2014 22:51

cat thought the postman was a radiator Grin

FloozeyLoozey · 15/12/2014 23:00

This thread is a giggle! Grin

WellWhoKnew · 15/12/2014 23:02

You can always tell if someone is being unreasonable.

They own a dog.

DorisIsABitPartialToSprouts · 15/12/2014 23:06

He bled his finger so badly he put a second card through?
Hmm
Sounds like a risk-taker to me.

EleanorAbernathy · 16/12/2014 04:47

Were there blood stains on the second card? Grin

Our post hasn't come all the way through the letterbox in ages. I figured it was because our letterbox may be getting a bit sticky.

After reading this thread, I've realised it's probably because we have eight cats, and there is usually at least one in the hallway by the front door!

YCINBU.

sashh · 16/12/2014 05:47

WellWhoKnew

It's a well established fact that cats like to sit on paper, tand the more important the better.

Send a card back - you bled on my pet

Nohootingchickenssleeping · 16/12/2014 08:19

You can't be sued over your cat's behaviour, they are legally classed as free spirits.

Do you have a photo of the cat? I'm sure it's an adorable fluffy little scratchy machine.

ACardiganForCat · 16/12/2014 09:03

He's not little. Weighs about 7kg. He is fluffy though.

OTheHugeManatee · 16/12/2014 09:09

A 7kg cat???

That's about the weight of both our cats put together Shock

What a fabulous bruiser. I love that glower he has as well.

ACardiganForCat · 16/12/2014 09:14

I think he's still angry about the postman.

He's big boned but also fat on top of it. He only goes out to poo and spends the rest of the time guarding sitting.

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 16/12/2014 09:44

Awwwww he's gorgeous! He has that "don't mess with me" face! Grin

Re-reading your OP, I think the poor little chap was just minding his own business and doing cat things, when suddenly a hand loomed into this territory, startling him and he thought that your home was at risk and he needed to act to protect it!

I think you should sue the postman - he has to learn that he can't go round scaring innocent cats. And the cat should be rewarded with as much tuna/chicken/treats as he can handle! Grin

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 16/12/2014 09:51

Sounds like a risk-taker to me.

Oh this has made me laugh out loud - thank you for brightening up my Tuesday morning! Grin

CheeseBuster · 16/12/2014 09:53

Oh, a proper sized cat, all my friends have wimpy 3kg house cats and make my 6kg girls look like beefcakes.

Ask him what positive tastes like? Is there blood on his collar? Hide the evidence!

CatsClaus · 16/12/2014 09:56

that postie needs retraining...poking his fingers all the way through

and as for putting a second card in..more fool him!

ACardiganForCat · 16/12/2014 10:03

I'm pleased that he couldn't tell what sort of animal had bitten him. My cat has obviously taken the advert about being more dog very seriously.
