To be annoyed when my clients are still in pjs when I turn up for work?

I'm a self employed domestic cleaner, have been for a number of years. I've recently taken on a few new clients (since Oct/Nov) and have been surprised to turn up to work at their homes to find them still in nightwear. It happened at 2 appointments last week, both at 9.30 in the morning. I turn up at the same time on the same day each week, so I'm not unexpected, and I always knock on the front door for them to let me in before using my own key as I think it is just polite. I honestly didn't know how to react, so just ignored it and got on with the cleaning after a quick 'Good morning, how are you?'

AIBU to wish they would get dressed before I arrive?

Although I realise that may not be an advantage... Grin

LOL! btw - why can't I do the smileys?

It is: square bracket, followed by typing "grin", followed by another square bracket ie Grin if you're on a tablet. Not sure about phones, though!

I think the cleaner may find that rather a relief tbh (If said cleaner had an issue with you that is!)

No cleaner's ever had an issue with me -- apart from the one that resigned when she realised I worked from home quite regularly & sometimes on the day she came. I realised that this was because she liked to smoke while cleaning ... I was rather short with the agency over that, I'm afraid.

It wouldn't bother me and I do think that if they would honestly stay in their pjs for anyone visiting their home at that time then it's not rude, it's just their home, their rules.

If they would get dressed for others but don't for you because they don't feel they have to for their 'cleaner' then I do thinks it's a bit disrespectful but nothing to get your knick-knacks in a twist about, more a reflection on their bad manners.

Either way you'll never know.

Well as I have said earlier - this particular thing wouldn't bother ME so much either but as for the 'my house, my rules' argument the OP can equally state 'my service, my rules!'

As I very well know from my involvement in the industry, it really is a 'seller's market' but, in my experience, a little communication goes a long way for a happy lasting relationship in business!
