To think that no one can possibly actually like udon noodles?

Finally, after being sceptical for a number of years I tried udon noodles this week. My worst fears were confirmed; they are fucking gross.

AIBU to think that no one could possibly really like them more than a nice medium egg noodle? So thick and wheaty, covering the inside of your mouth and feeling like thick worms before you chew them? Eugh. Back to fine/medium for me!

YABU

You have a very narrow view of the world.

If NOBODY liked them, then someone would have invented the, everyone would have said "yuck", and that would have been that.

Here is an udon and parsnip recipe.

Can it get any better Grin

Mmmm wagamamas ginger chicken udon. Mmmmmmm Grin

I don't get the really thick udon noodles from supermarkets so they're a big treat in restaurants.

There's an m&s ready meal with chicken, udon noodles, veg and a lovely teriyaki sauce. If I could afford it I'd eat it for breakfast, lunch and tea, with the odd parsnip here and there for variety.

I love udon noodles when done right.

It's egg noodles I can't stand.

Bloody love udon noodles. Super happy that the 'straight to wok' range in the supermarket now includes udon.

Love vermicelli and glass noodles too. Really not a fan of the ubiquitous English approximation of 'egg noodles' that you buy in nests though. Bleh.
