I predict it will be hilarious, and horrifying, in equal measure.

Popcorn anyone?

Oh good god. I'm not sure I can cope with both of those utter fuckwits on my screen at the same time...

This. The reason I didn't watch. As I wouldn't know who I'd want to administer a good hard slap to first.
My telly would implode with the indecisiveness. They both make me raaaaargh.

beavington · 12/12/2014 00:35

TBH ive not followed russells ranting and ravings or the ins and outs of his revolution but am aware of the gist of it. In his old life as a comedian though he was intelligent there was no doubt of that. So im guessing if hes written a book on his political musings that he couldve formed better responses to basic questions. You could very well be right, but he SHOULD'VE done better because not many other people are being given as much airtime as him right now except for NF who i cant stand.

Still though, i agree with the mans sentiment so cant criticise him too much.

pigsDOfly · 12/12/2014 00:56

I think your prediction was spot on OP.

Brilliant, riveting television.

Haven't seen Mordaunt for about 6 years but for the pp who objected to her curling her hair for the programme and her heavy make up, she has worn her hair like that for years and years and has always been a bit heavy handed with the make up. It's how she always looks.

Having said that, I'm not sure how Mordaunt's hair style and make up, or the size of Camilla's earrings impacts on their performance or what they were saying on the programme.

missingmumxox · 12/12/2014 01:21

Can I just say Canterbury prison is now closed part of Christ Church College now, can't believe none of the local audience didn't pick up on that

Nerf, are you one of my facebook friends? A couple of your posts reflect mine but the I am oh so umble was spooky.

That said the application was only 4 questions long so I suspect you didn't investigate it that much, I have been along before it isn't the Spanish Inquisition to get A ticket, they only ask about friends so you can sit together or make sure you are not part of a protest.
I never bother I can see my friends in the bar

MyBaby1day · 12/12/2014 01:56

I agree 100% with everything Russell Brand said!!.

Nerf · 12/12/2014 02:37

Missing mum - don't think so, how funny! A fellow not very keen on Brand -re

Nerf · 12/12/2014 02:39

I did go through the form, I know why they ask but it just seemed too much of a faff to finish - all the stuff about how I voted and would vote was fine but I couldn't think of two topical issues and dh was away so couldn't contact him to see if it was ok to put his numbers down.

TheChandler · 12/12/2014 08:31

I cannot stand the Russell Brand bandwagon. He criticise politicians for being career politicians (fair comment in many cases) but has actually made a career out of attention seeking and social climbing himself.

He criticises bankers for making money (perhaps they should make losses and ruin the massive British economy instead?) while having a record of much wealthier girlfriends than himself. He obviously chooses to socialise of late in very privileged trust fund sets where he met Jemima Khan of Goldsmith banking wealth, so they could both be examples of people who have the time and income to pretend to be socialists.

Its so obvious to anyone who has bothered to get a proper education, necessary for their job, that he is lacking in that and doesn't know how to conduct an argument. He also has a dreadful squeaky, nasal voice (not his fault). I dare say many of his sentiments are genuine, but there is a certain type of woman that seems to hero worship his carefully cultivated hair, and thankfully I'm not one of them! What he is good at is spotting a gap in the market, an opportunity which he can exploit, with his somewhat limited skills. He's done that in acting, he's done that being a comedian, but its not a substitute for real talent or vision.

TheLastThneed · 12/12/2014 10:23

Very well put TheChandler

raltheraffe · 12/12/2014 10:23

Missed it last night as it was past my bedtime.

Is it worth watching on the iPlayer?

Nancy66 · 12/12/2014 11:21

I bet RB will be really smarting this morning. He was hopelessly out of his depth and came across as a rude, clueless idiot.

If you're someone who's a bit into politics to plug a book but never intends to stand for parliament or be part of government, then you can say what the hell you like in the safe knowledge you'll never have to implement it.

hiddenhome · 12/12/2014 12:14

How can the BBC stoop this low?

Pathetic to reduce this programme to such a level.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 12/12/2014 12:19

It's absolutely worth watching raltherraffe. Brillaint TV. Best QT in ages!

silveroldie2 · 12/12/2014 12:57

Just watched it and am pissed off that the BBC gave the cretinous nonentity Brand such a platform to spout his idiotic bullshit. God knows what sort of idiot runs the BBC these days.

I have never voted for the UKIP, nor will I at the GE but I thought Nigel Farage did very well.

Bakeoffcakes · 12/12/2014 13:52

But there are often "cretins" on QT. it's nothing new. Farage for one, and im sure that Nick someone from BNP was on once.

why shouldn't Brand be on?

AliceinWinterWonderland · 12/12/2014 13:52

I'll just throw this out there, simply as they are both actors. But I thought when Hugh Grant was on there previously, he was much better prepared and sounded like he knew what he was talking about, easily answering things as they came up.

Russell Brand sounded like he had a few stock answers and couldn't really adapt to the live questioning style.

Chippednailvarnish · 12/12/2014 14:03

The difference between Russell Brand and Hugh Grant is that Hugh Grant would say if he didn't know something, whereas Brand would just keep waffling on talking complete crap...

Nerf · 12/12/2014 14:34

Plus Hugh grant has been massively involved in a very topical subject at the time. Russell Brand is a womanising sixth former and I find it depressing that loads of mumsnetters seem to fancy him and ascribe intelligence to him because they like the way he looks.

Yes yes to Hugh Grant doing a very impressive job on QT a couple of years ago. Very passionate and knew what he was talking about and looked bloody gorgeous too. He clearly has a few brain cells to rub together whereas Russell, maybe not so much Hmm

He is a rude, loutish misogynist and slipped up with his 'sexist language'. Working on it eh? He's so full of crap

TheBogQueen · 12/12/2014 19:48

I do think RB is right about some things.

He is on an ego trip - but he is right that the most vulnerable in our society are being treated terribly and that there is plenty of money swishing about in a few powhands during this age of austerity.

RB isn't the answer - he is a symptom of a political system and establishment which appears to be waging war on its own people.

We are all encouraged to accept the status quo by listening to Brand and dismissing him and therefore all his arguments.
I wish there was a politician with some integrity to fill the political vacuum.

trixymalixy · 13/12/2014 11:23

I can't bear RB, we need someone with more credibility to get the message across. He's allowing right wing supporters to ridicule left wing supporters which is really pissing me off.
