Some verucas are immortal.

I tried everything, from bazuka, extra strength bazuka etc to all kinds of remedies inc taping a square of banana skin to my feet every day&night for a year (I know...). Even had them cauterised several times, AND then frozen with liquid nitrogen repeatedly. The specialist laughed and revealed that another DR had called them 'seemingly indestructable' in my notes.

15+ years later, I have just had to learn to live with them. :-(

Bulbasaur · 08/12/2014 02:57

I had one for two years on my foot, and then one day it just disappeared and I've never had anything like it again 20+ years since. Confused

Errrr2012 · 08/12/2014 03:16

Getting pregnant sorted mine out! They'd made themselves very much at home on my foot for as long as I could remember, tried everything to get rid. DS is 2.5yrs now and I'm still verruca free.....tis a bit of an extreme solution I'll admit Grin

Gaffer tape won't stick to my DS sweaty feet. After his bath I put on bazooka type stuff from the doctors then I put on Elastoplast fabric strapping to suffocate it and socks to keep it in place. Keep on as long as possible till the next bath. Sometimes it slips off. Have tried covering with gaffer tape over the fabric strapping but it all eventually slips off.
However the verrucas are slowly going away. A couple have already disappeared but you have to be on top of it but I am pleased we are getting somewhere and they are on the way out.

No I didn't find any of the natural remedies worked for dd and we tried lots. The banana skin and duct tape just fell off. Bazooka didn't work for us. We even drew round it with a biro in desperation - as I read that could work.

What eventually worked was Salactol and a pumice stone. Took just under two weeks. You're meant to soak and pumice every night but we did it every 2-3 days. We bought it online - it's in a small green box.

pregnantpause · 08/12/2014 11:25

Duct tape worked for my dds. We cut a square and secured it with medical tape- two or three weeks later all 5 were gone

Ujjayi · 08/12/2014 11:35

PregnantPause: how often did you change the duct tape?

I had 24 of the blighters for 8 years and tried pretty much everything. The last one has gone today!

Apple Cider Vinegar weakened them as did gaffer tape but the winner was......extra strength Bazuka and a pedi egg. Dot the Bazuka on, leave for 48 hours (or label instructions) and grate it off with the pedi egg, repeat, repeat, repeat. When you've grated you can have a pick/dig about before dotting on more Bazuka. As they die off it is really satifying to peel the Bazuka off and see a lump of verruca come away with it :D I attacked all of them in one big hit.

I honestly wish I'd taken pics as the transformation is amazing, it has worked on raised, flat and mosaic verrucas on toes and sole of foot, be patient and keep going, this has taken 4 months. Emery boards and pumice are nothing compared to the pedi egg, it is amazing.

Trickydecision · 08/12/2014 13:48

Had one in my finger which defied Bazooka and six nitrogen sessions with GP. Then he precribed DuoFilm with which to paint it It is very satisfying as each day a nice skin forms and you can pull it off along with a layer of verruca. Keep it all under a wrapping of duct tape so each evening you will have the joy of poking and peeling. It turns out it is an OTC producet, about £3 in Boots, so why he didn't tell me just to go and buy some heaven knows.

Poolomoomon · 08/12/2014 15:19

I had one for four years before I got rid of it last year. I'd tried so many things from the usual Bazuka treatments (useless!) to banana skin and gaffer tape. None of it worked. I was reluctant to try the vinegar one because I hate the smell so much, I really didn't fancy attaching that scent to my bloody foot for a few nights! But eventually I was so pissed off with the bugger (and it hurt too!) I caved and used vinegar, it dropped off after 5 days! Hasn't come back either.

I scrubbed it with an emery board first till it hurt, attached a cotton ball soaked in White wine vinegar to it with tape and left it over night every night till it went.

mummymeister · 08/12/2014 15:25

I had one for years. I tried all the usual remedies and eventually went to see a chiropodist as I started walking funny due to the foot pain and then got a problem with my knee and hip. she did not mess about. she used the acid on it and it hurt like absolute hell. after 4 days I removed the dressing and the whole thing had liquidised and gone. still have the hole in my foot where it was.

Sparklingbrook · 08/12/2014 15:28

The Chiropodist used Glutarol liquid on DS2s and it shifted them after about 6 weeks. Apply twice a day and regular filing.

Maffy · 08/12/2014 15:31

I had one for years as a child; nothing would cure it. Then I heard about bananas...

After a bit of sanding with an emery board, I taped a piece of banana skin, inside onto the verruca, last thing at night and took it off in the morning. I did it that every night and the verruca disappeared!

I've no idea why, but it is definitely worth a try.

Groovee · 08/12/2014 16:50

I tried everything from duct tape, to freezing to banana skins. What worked was soaking them every night and filing them down with emery boards. It took about 10 weeks but haven't had issues since and lost about 8 this way!

Reception2015 · 08/12/2014 16:59

+1 for apple cider vinegar - soak in a small piece of gauze then tape or plaster over the top

just used it on DS finger wart and it turned black and came off in just over a week, no digging required, 2 weeks later and you would never know it had been there

i had a verruca frozen off a few years ago and it hurt more than giving birth, wish I had known about the acv before then

SeaSalt1 · 08/12/2014 17:05

I finally managed to get rid of a giant (and I mean GIANT) one that had been lurking for years, perhaps not as many as 10 but not far off. I had multiple (i.e. over 20, maybe nearing 30) freezing treatments before it finally shifted - it was a stubborn old thing! In the end what worked was essentially me throwing everything at it. I had it frozen at the surgery, covered it with gaffer tape, and daily / every other day-ish whittled away at it with a scalpel to take away the dead skin on the top (strangely satisfying). I then applied the acid stuff for verrucas you can buy over the counter in boots and finally re-covered it with gaffer tape. Be sure to sterilise the scalpel before re-using as any of the virus that stays on the blade will transfer back and re-infect you. Good luck! (I tried the cider vinegar trick combined with gaffer tape but it didn't work for me).

Bonsoir · 08/12/2014 17:06

You need to paint the skin surrounding the verruca with varnish and then use a very strong verruca-killing product on the verruca itself, sanding and repainting daily.

Tantan19 · 31/08/2021 23:21

And me

User112 · 01/09/2021 01:03

Apple cider vinegar - every single time

Bjarnum · 01/09/2021 01:13

I know this will sound nuts ,but it worked for me. use a broad bean pod to rub over it.

Yabusux · 01/09/2021 05:46

One other poster has mentioned this, you need to take zinc. There is no cure as such for verrucas, they are a virus which your immune system has to deal with. Sneaky bastards, verrucas even have means of masking themselves from your normal immune defences. All the treatments on here are ways to aggravate the verruca and help your own immune system locate and fight it; it's the zinc boosts your immune system. After 2 or 3 years and all sorts useless shop bought treatments I had a nasty one treated with acid by chiropodist who told me about the zinc. Even then it looked like coming back after a couple of months. I changed to a stronger zinc supplement than the one he'd put me on to and it completely cleared up; touch wood it's never returned.

ittakes2 · 01/09/2021 06:28

Our dermotologist at a children's hospital said gafa tape too.
It hurts because its past your foot and when you stand on it its causing pressure inside your foot so you need to file it down. I bought a cheap mechanical foot filer off Amazon, I take my son outside, put on mask and gloves and file it down mechanically. But be aware you are creating wart skin dust so hence being outside and the mask etc. It usually detaches itself from the skin after a while of doing this so I pull out what is left. It comes back but not that quickly. I am about to try gaffa tape.
