Agree. There's a link to a petition - I think this card will be withdrawn, smartish. It's just plain offensive.

The card is indeed horrible. But when I read your title, for a moment I wondered why Bill and Hillary would use British council houses to illustrate their Christmas cards.

I live on a council estate and I absolutely love it!

I'm only sending about 20 cards this year...and they'll be to my elderly relatives (mainly), who don't use the internet.

But I'll see if I can get these ones because I know it's their sense of humour to a tee.

I do and I know for a fact many of my neighbours and family will too...all of whom live on council estates.

I think it's brilliant! I also like that the two posters (so far) to find it funny live on council estates. It's humour, it's making a joke about stereotypes. I see tons of jokes about middle class/upper class people all the time, yet no one bats an eyelid. Surely there are far more important things to be offended by, and to petition, nowadays?

I grew up on a council estate and the card is stereotypical, ill-judged and not funny imo.

Imagine the uproar if the title said '10 Reasons Why Santa Must Be An Asylum Seeker'. It is the same technique- stereotyping and belittling a group in society and claiming it as humour. Clintons are making money out of it too. Shame on them.

I sort of agree with Quinn there are far more pressing things to get worked up about, and some people will find it funny, I'm sure.

I live in a council house (in a village though so not on a "typical" estate as such). I'm not really offended by it since none of the stereotypes apply to me, but I think it's been done in pretty poor taste. Alot of people living in council accommodation are hardworking and honest, it's a bit crass to be implying that we are all lazy, unhygenic criminals.

Quinn the difference is rich/middle class people dont get hate programmes like How to get a council house Benefits Britain We All pay your Benefits made about them.

During one of these programmes i even saw on the accompanying Twitter hashtag ppl calling for them to be gassed. There is also hate against poor people whipped up in the newspapers and this card is part of that IMO.

I think it's funny, people need to lighten up.

Hope you still find it funny when people on Twitter start doing their own mock up versions in retaliation which ive seen happen before with things like this.

I think it's called having a sense of humour. That card is not something I would send but if we all start being po-faced about everything the world will become a very dull place

I just went online to check this out and ended up buying 4 cards including one about Northerners leading lives of bleakness and desperation. I am a Northerner and find that quite funny but no doubt somebody would find it offensive

Darkesteyes: You mean the programmes that people participate in, knowing full well what they are about? You're right that the middle/upper class don't have these programmes made about them, but they are still mocked by a lot of people at every available opportunity. Perhaps if people stopped looking for offence at every given opportunity, people would get on a lot better.
