to think that UK shops should follow Australia's lead and ban on Grand Theft Auto 5

I have never understood why Grand Theft Auto has been acceptable as a main stream game with the amount of violence against women.

Isn't it about time British shops banned it too?

YABU. I enjoy playing GTAV, and as people have said the violence against prostitutes is a choice, not a quest in the game. You can shoot or beat up anyone in the street should you wish. It's a beautifully made game that allows you to explore the city, and you have free will to either do the quests or just ride around blowing things up. I play it to let off some steam after a long day, and because I enjoy the satirical comedy and the storyline.

Its a horrible game with violence to everyone and the worst foul language. I don't play it / dp does sometimes.

I don't think it should be banned though. People know its not real.

Age ratings are there for a reason. If parents are too fucking stupid to read about the ratings, then they should be banned from having access to gaming equipment in their homes. Leave the rest of us alone.

The majority of the outrage about this game and other games, is from parents. Why the fuck are parents letting children play these games. It's about time they realise that like films, ratings are there for reasons.

I play games. I have 18's. I have a 8 year old. He has never played these games. He has never seen us play these games. It's not hard.

You shoot dead many people, mainly men. You get all kinds of weapons and theres a lot of violence.

Should that be banned or is it ok because it's happening to men?

Killing prostitutes isn't 'part' of it as such you can kill anyone, they are not targets. Playing through the game very few women will actually be harmed most would probably be accidental kills through dodgy driving. Men however get killed in truck loads which is okay for you guess.

Oh ok then, killing others in their thousands is wrong, but because you can kill a prostitute then it becomes wrong. I reckon that if I did any of that stuff in real life I'd be wrong. I guess my moral are just different to yours

I'm still genuinely impressed by how Rockstar manage to get so much free publicity for their games. They produce a complex, visually stunning game, and add in something controversial, and, bang, articles on the TV, papers and internet. It's a business model they've used for years and it serves them very well indeed.

If you want to get behind a campaign, how about one that educates parents about the Pegi ratings?

I'm not sure I can get on board with a "Let's ban anything that goes against my delicate sensibilities" mentality.

It's great the stores are making a point and all, but people will just buy it online anyway. They're not accomplishing anything besides being sanctimonious for publicity.

But just women aren't being killed. SOME people CAN kill women. You are right though if a game in which the objective was to kill just black/gay etc that would be very wrong. Your argument falls down because killing prostitutes isn't the aim of the game.

You would have a good point if you could only kill women in the game.

However as it stands you can kill both men and women. Black people, white people, young and old.

If the game is not your particular taste then by all means don't play it, but it shouldn't be banned.

AS I said......women in the game are fucked AND killed. SEX and VIOLENCE are not natural or healthy partners for a GAME. Adult or not it is frigging awful to sell this pile of shit. ANd I am no prude.

I am aware though that despite the age restriction kids do get hold of it from older siblings. It's sick and wrong.
