Aibu to start to hate the word methinks. Used in Facebook status updates too frequently by people who can't spell it.

No...just ignorance.

TimelyNameChangey · 03/12/2014 19:14

Masquerade I know....but OP did fail to use a comma in her title...so....Grin

Ladyboluna · 03/12/2014 19:16

Oh there are fellow grammar Nazis! Hello good friends!

I like to correct people's grammar on Facebook. It's lost me some friends I think, but I sleep better at night. Grin

goodnessgracious · 03/12/2014 19:27

Sorry, got distracted, they spell it Me Thinks.

my least favourite phrase is 'Get IN!' followed by fist pulled toward waist....

Timely, mefinks you should hand in your pedant's badge! An ellipsis has three full stops, not four.

Booboostoo · 03/12/2014 20:20

I am so excited, finally a thread about me (I wrote me thinks on FB yesterday)!

puntasticusername · 03/12/2014 20:26

I read a TripAdvisor tirade yesterday where the reviewer finished his rant with "and the Pierre de Resistance was...".

Nearly bloody wet myself.

titchy · 03/12/2014 20:35

UnchartERed territory is one of my bugbears.

TimelyNameChangey · 03/12/2014 20:35

Gilbert Oh well I'm bloody knackered! Grin

TimelyNameChangey · 03/12/2014 20:36

I assume anyone who uses "methinks" is a UKIP voter.

YouAreMyRain · 03/12/2014 20:47

People misspelling things on FB is just part of the course.

puntasticusername · 03/12/2014 20:49

goodnessgracious Yes! And this is one of the many reasons why I love TripAdvisor Grin

AvonCallingBarksdale · 03/12/2014 20:53

youaremyrain "part of the course"?! You messing with my mind?!

Hatespiders · 03/12/2014 20:57

'En route' means 'on the way', for example, "I was delayed en route, and arrived an hour late." Or, "En route to M&S I met a friend..."

My husband laughs like a drain at some of the things he hears on TV. That advert for 'Voi-arge pree-vay' has him kicking his legs up in the air on the sofa and falling off it. Also, the musical 'Lez Mizzairahbullz' has him giggling for ages.

I hate eye-dillic. They're obviously thinking of 'ideal' but the root is from idyll.

SoggyBottoms · 03/12/2014 21:03

The OP can hardly comment on people inserting a rogue space into 'me thinks' when she has written overuse as two words.

Neverknowingly · 03/12/2014 21:06

For all intensive purposes...

I can't bare it...

And two to too people!

Didactylos · 03/12/2014 21:14

oh tempura. oh morays...

best misspelling ever seen on FB
(by a possible sushi addict with a poor classical education?)

ots · 03/12/2014 21:18

The absolute worst is people using "his" when they mean "he's" Angry

A couple of funny ones, from the same friend actually. I was complaining that I was tired after I had flown home from Australia. She said "you must be tired, when I flew to America it seemed to take forever, little own flying to Australia". Yes, she meant let alone!

And when she got married, she hoped she would have enough "bottom holes" for all the groomsmen. Grin

Fluffyears · 03/12/2014 21:21

One girl keeps taking selfies snd putting 'me possing' below and another announced her teacher training was 'finaly finnished' she has written 'finnished' since then too!
