Apologies for posting here but the Avon and Somerset police are running an urgent appeal for the safe return of Bristol mum Charlotte Bevan and her four day old baby, who have gone missing from a central Bristol maternity unit and haven't been seen for over 12 hours. PLEASE keep an eye out for her and phone the police if you see her - she's white, around 5'8, dark hair, wearing a black top, black trousers and hospital slippers or flip flops. Her baby is wrapped in a stripey blanket.

Hoping and praying for a safe return sad

Can't sleep either. Devastating.

HowDoesThatWork · 03/12/2014 23:24

Oh shit. It is such a magnet (The Avon Gorge). Poor lass.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 03/12/2014 23:29

Why are people saying RIP before they know it's her? Yes there's every chance but we don't know

Nicknacky · 03/12/2014 23:30

It's looking pretty likely but I think most people would say rip to any person found dead, regardless of identity.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 03/12/2014 23:31

maybe regardless of who it is, they are saying RIP for the person found. Not really worth getting worked up over, is it?

26Point2Miles · 03/12/2014 23:31

Why is the gorge a magnet?

FyreFly · 03/12/2014 23:32

It's a womans body and her family have been informed. I know we don't have official confirmation but that's usually a pretty clear indication. Very, very sad news :( I hope the baby is OK.

It's the Clifton suspension bridge, 26. It's gained a reputation as a suicide spot.

ChrissieLatham · 03/12/2014 23:34

She had quite a way to go to get there, shame she wasn't spotted first.

26Point2Miles · 03/12/2014 23:36

Oh yes, heard of it

Nicknacky · 03/12/2014 23:37

I didn't realise that's where the gorge was. We have the Erskine Bridge which was a common spot, does the Clifton suspension bridge have cameras or anti-suicide measures?

I don't know Nick - I think there are barriers, but it's been a couple of years since I was in that part of the world.

AcrossthePond55 · 03/12/2014 23:40

Oh God, no.

FyreFly · 03/12/2014 23:41

I don't think anyone's getting "worked up" sharon Hmm we're just saying how sad it is.

ChrissieLatham · 03/12/2014 23:41

There's supposed to be a massive fireworks event there on Sunday to mark 150 years of the suspension bridge, don't think people will want to be celebrating there now :-(

Nicknacky · 03/12/2014 23:42

Fyre'i was just curious and it's not particularly relevant iyswim? They have implemented a lot of measures on Erskine and to the best of my knowledge it has helped. I had a boss who committed suicide there.

sharon why even comment on that then?

GoofyIsACow · 03/12/2014 23:42

Oh my goodness, i must have missed all this. So terribly sad Sad

Jsa1980 · 03/12/2014 23:42

There are barriers and Samaritans signs. The bridge is busy though day and night so I'd be surprised if she got there without being spotted.

WireCat · 03/12/2014 23:43

Oh my goodness, heartbreaking Sad

AnitaManeater · 03/12/2014 23:45

There are barriers over the suspension bridge. I suspect she's probably gone somewhere a bit further up the Portway as the bridge is always busy and well lit

Nicknacky · 03/12/2014 23:45

How far is it from the hospital to the bridge?

AuntieStella · 03/12/2014 23:46
Sad
sillymillyb · 03/12/2014 23:47

Oh god, that poor woman. I hope her baby is safe, but I know how unlikely that is looking now Hmm

ChrissieLatham · 03/12/2014 23:48

It's about 2 miles
