to think £2600 for fitting a new boiler is probably about right?

dh is appalled because they've been here a few times recently trying to make it work and we've spent a few hundred on various other things which needed doing, valves replaced, immersion heater fixed etc.

Yesterday the engineer returned because the ignition lockout had completely locked out. He now says we can pay £400 on parts and £200 on labour and get it mended or face it, stop throwing money at it, bite the bullet, and get a new boiler. He says he could mend it and next week it could collapse again and then more money on parts and labour.

Does that sound about right?

We have no heat til next week regardless Sad
At least the immersion heater works so we are not cold and stinky.

Sounds about right, we had a new boiler fitted 2 years ago and I think the total cost including fitting was around £2500

Thanks, our old boiler is about 15 years old, so it probably has pretty much had it do you think?

Sounds like a good price to me, obviously it depends on the make and the spec of the boiler... we paid £3700 for our new boiler, fitted.

We had our boiler replaced 18 months ago and it was exactly £2600 to supply and fit (including a power flush).

I'm in the London/Essex area.

There are government schemes for free boilers check if you are eligible before you pay out £££.

We paid British Gas £2500 to replace a back boiler with a combo boiler. I would recommend them as if it ends up costing more than they quote you only end up paying the quoted amount so gives you peace if mind the price wont creep up.

Dh is a plumber, that's an average price depending on the make of boiler.

I'm in Yorkshire. That sounds about right here. On the bright side, you'll definitely see a difference in the speed of heating up the house, and a big difference in your bills.

We are having central heating fitted in 4 weeks. So new combi boiler, old immersion removed, flues, 2 thermostats, 4 radiators, lots of lifting floorboards and running stuff through the loft. £2866 inc VAT. So for just a boiler that sounds steep. As ever though, get several quotes. Ours all came in around the same mark so we were reassured. May be a location thing too.

I had mine done by an independent guy. He charged £900 which included the boiler.

The other quotes were £1100 and £1500.

We paid £2400 a year ago in SW London so sounds fine to me. VAT was on top.

That was in NW England and the boiler was for a small 3 bed semi.

I have called one engineer who hopes to come on Thursday if he can to give us a quote.

it's just the time of year I think, they are all massively busy.

Much the same as others, we had ours replaced last year for 2500. Was really worth it for the peace of mind.

We paid 2600 recently for a new boiler but that did include a new mahoosive hot water cylinder, running a new gas supply, moving the boiler and doing a power flush plus some other work in preparation for an extension.

2600 for a straight boiler replacement seems a bit expensive, but I don't know what else would be involved.

mine was about £900 same as thedetective for a condensing boiler with a 5 year parts and labour guarantee

We paid about that a few years ago in the SW. Got a Worcestor Bosch which is fantastic and had a 5 year warranty. Was a big job as well because they had to put a little chimney (not the right word I don't think) and new pipes in for it because the previous boiler was some weird model.

We had our new boiler fitted last week - £3000 with British Gas.

That included combi boiler, removing old water tank, doing a power flush and magnetic filters, and renewing a length of ancient pipework - about a day and a half's work, all in.
