AIBU for laughing at this statement and should I take back the Dyson I've bought her for Christmas ?

I find it very difficult to explain exactly why it is I would not laugh, but do not like the MN thing of "you have a different opinion - let's belittle you " - uptight, po-faced, lacking in humor, OTT, joyless, get a grip, lack of sense of proportion

all because I, and others, don't happen to believe that the pervasiveness of sexism in this country is a laughable matter - sometimes the bigger picture is just as important as the teeny tiny 2 year old's words..

why laugh, why not just say "mums work too"

this week I received a marketing email from a national company stating they were sorry not to have included the promised voucher - but their email elf was pregnant and suffering mummy brain - I didn't laugh at that either - though I was supposed to... (and it was written by a young woman)

I wonder what world some posters live in. You are an easily offended bunch, how do you cope in rl?

maddening · 30/11/2014 10:10

I used to love that "small talk" programme with ronnie Corbett - the way small dc see the world is often hilarious.

Sparklingbrook · 30/11/2014 10:13

i do wonder that bonkers it must be exhausting to be so offended all the time by everything.

NomorepepperpigPLEASE · 30/11/2014 10:45

you we would live in a very grey world indeed if we could not laugh at our toddlers funny moments.

GarlicGiftsAndGlitter · 30/11/2014 10:53

I wonder what world some posters live in.

An imperfect world, which some of us try to improve as we go.

Humansatnav - you mean Santa doesn't live on top of the gasometer? Shock

Waltonswatcher · 30/11/2014 14:54

Why is my post so offensive ? What undercurrent has been surmised about my parenting I wonder?

She's 2. It's not.like the OP hasn't got time to rectify her incorrext assumption. By the sound of the older DD it doesn't seem like there are any real problems here!

Sparklingbrook · 30/11/2014 15:42

Are you kidding slightly, at two there's no hope of reversing the damage. Sad It should all have been explained at 18 months really.

slightlyconfused85 · 30/11/2014 16:15

Right OPs DD has no future hope of equality...at its deepest level this is clearly not funny, but a 2 year olds ramblings whether correct or not can definitely be funny. If my 2 year old dd had said this I probably would have laughed then corrected her with a light touch. Ridiculous responses on here.

Thurlow · 30/11/2014 16:32

My 2 year old firmly believes her cuddly toys are all real people.

Pretty much all 2 year olds are screwed one way or another.

I agree with sparkling
