After what she has tweeted about David Cameron. here

Like him or loathe him to describe the way he talks about his deceased son as 'misty eyed' and used for political gain is disgusting.

The greatest loss any of us can imagine is the loss of a child. Shock horror, even politician have real feeling. It's just awful that she would say that about another parent.

I don't care what she can do with a bloody lentil. Something's are just too low.

OP posts:

Are there rules demanding that you can only tweet great original thoughts that no-one else has ever pronounced, ever? Perhaps she thought it worth reminding people, particularly in the context of Cameron's attitude to the NHS and the disabled.

Icimoi · 24/11/2014 23:26

That's me boycotting Sainsbury's, then.

Mintyy · 24/11/2014 23:30

I don't think there are rules regarding Twitter, no, although I believe the point is to be "in the moment" (or on trend, if you will).

Silkchiffon · 24/11/2014 23:48

It needed saying and I admire her for saying it. Twitter is the perfect medium for getting it across succinctly.

WetAugust · 24/11/2014 23:52

How do you think Cameron feels when he hears that the death if his son is being discussed like this?

I don't share his political views but as a fellow human being I imagine he's very distressed. I expect his wife is also very upset.

And that's why this woman should have kept her thoughts go herself

diaimchlo · 24/11/2014 23:55

JM has said what most people are thinking and I agree with her 100%.

DC does bring up Ivan to shut everyone up when he is backed into a corner regarding the effects that his and his cronies policies have on the most vulnerable in our society.

Whilst I cannot imagine how he must feel about his loss, he needs to stop using it as a shield and actually deal with the debates.

diaimchlo · 24/11/2014 23:58

How do you think Cameron feels when he hears that the death if his son is being discussed like this?

DC is the only one that brings this subject up to shut down debates when he isn't happy with the way they are going...... He opens up discussions like this by doing so.

McFox · 25/11/2014 00:10

JM has simply called DC out for doing what he has done countless times. Those of you who are up in arms over her comment have fallen very neatly into line for him. If we can't point out when a politician is using emotional guilt trips to put a stop to vital debate and subsequently barrel ahead doing whatever he pleases as a result, then we're all in trouble.

JamNan · 25/11/2014 01:30

I'm already boycotting Sainsbury because of their disgusting WW1 Christmas advert

rootypig · 25/11/2014 04:36

Bit of a PR disaster for Sainsburys whichever way they jumped. The Daily Mail brigade tend to win out in these cases, don't they?

Speaking of which, the Mail is reporting this as an attack on Ivan in their inimitable, criminally irresponsible and repulsively inflammatory fashion.

Gosh, it's hard to think of adjectives that do the DM justice.

Shlep · 25/11/2014 04:49

I agree with the sentiment behind it, but the 'misty eyed' bit felt really wrong for me.

Meechimoo · 25/11/2014 07:06

Imagine if the general public were discussing your dead son in this way. It's hideous. It doesn't stifle debate. The problem isn't that DC stifles debate re Ivan, it's that Ed bloody Milliband doesn't start or even bloody initiate debate. He's a lily livered poor excuse for an opposition leader. DC shuts him and his ilk down daily cos they're ineffectual.

Botanicbaby · 25/11/2014 07:20

"Are there rules demanding that you can only tweet great original thoughts that no-one else has ever pronounced, ever?"

GrinGrinGrin

Twitter wouldn't exist if that were the case. As for those saying it's the perfect medium for debate. Well, yes it is perfect for giving people a platform to make nasty remarks in the short space of 140 characters for those inclined to do so where they can join in with like-minded others. Nasty stuff. But hey it doesn't matter because it's a horrible Tory, eh?
Tasteless remark Jack Monroe.

EveDallasRetd · 25/11/2014 07:24

Jack is getting a kicking in today's Sarah Vine column in the Daily Fail. It's a pretty passive aggressive homophobic piece as well - and she misquotes Jacks reply tweet to her.

Doesn't really surprise me.

FunkyBoldRibena · 25/11/2014 07:33

Imagine if the general public were discussing your dead son in this way. It's hideous.

Imagine if a leader used their dead child as an excuse every time they didn't want to answer a question put to them by the people they are being paid to represent. Oh - hang on a minute...

whois · 25/11/2014 07:44

EveDallasRetd

Yes, I know why she was forced to give up work thanks, and that does highlight how hard it is for shift workers.

However it doesn't explain why the father couldn't ir wouldn't have given them an extra tenner a week so she could have doubled their food budget...

Icimoi · 25/11/2014 07:45

Meechimoo, the general public aren't discussing Cameron's dead son. They are discussing the way he regularly mentions him in conjunction with a demand that he should not be asked to account for his plans and actions in relation to the Health Service and the disabled.

hackmum · 25/11/2014 07:46

Eve - yes, Jack is getting a kick from Sarah Vine, and another kick from Richard Littlejohn, and several kicks in the prominent news story in today's Mail. Yes, they're all using the platform of a hugely popular national newspaper to have a go at her for being bullying and hypocritical. It's enough to make you weep.

Icimoi · 25/11/2014 07:46

whols, what on earth do the failures or otherwise of JM's father's child have to do with her views on Cameron?

The problem, obviously, is she is such an easy hate figure for the right - a lesbian, left wing, single parent. Shooting fish. Her treatment on twitter has been foul, her losing the Sainsbury's contract is disappointing in the extreme and her characterisation in the Fail is a borderline hate piece. Poor Jack Monroe.
All for a (ill judged IMO) twitter comment - one of thousands with the #cameronmustgo. I can't help but feel she has been 'made an example of' and that makes me cross. Previously I was in the "she shouldn't have said it" camp but now I just feel exasperated that you can't express a bloody opinion in the UK.

Lottapianos · 25/11/2014 07:54

She's lost her contract with Sainsburys because of this? Oh FFS. You're right Nancy, public figures are getting crucified for expressing any opinion that doesn't follow the party line. Its depressing and pathetic.

Samcro · 25/11/2014 07:56

the reaction to what she said proves her point.

Alisvolatpropiis · 25/11/2014 08:09

Meech

Oh that is what DC does is it

Meechimoo · 25/11/2014 08:11

God almighty, the posts in support of Jack Monroe have the weakest non arguments ever.
