I've still got my 4.5 tog quilt on. Last night it was 13° outside so nowhere near winter temps yet. In the summer I usually sleep under an empty duvet cover or nothing if it's really hot, and that's with a fan on all night. I don't understand how some of you can bear to be so hot.

FryOneFatManic · 14/11/2014 18:53

Another one still sleeping with a 4.5 tog quilt. I get so hot and I can't sleep then.

It's often recommended that sleeping is better if you're cooler at night.

DuchessofNorks · 14/11/2014 19:25

I have no idea what tog we have, but I do know that it is perfect except for making my feet far too hot!!

I never feel well if my feet are too hot.. Blush

dangly131 · 14/11/2014 19:34

I have 15 tog all year round! I add on throws too in winter.

Oldraver · 14/11/2014 19:51

We have currently got a 4.5 tog, with a top sheet and cotton bedspread underneath which means we I can chuck the duvet off if we I get too hot. The 9.5 tog wont go on until we have colder weather. I have only once had both on together.

No heating on at night,

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/11/2014 20:03

4.5 max here. No heating, preferably with the window slightly open unless it is really cold. Much prefer to be cool at night rather than hot.

Think I'd be way too hot under a 10.5. Even in the middle of winter.

CremeEggThief · 14/11/2014 20:13

Wow, how different we all are! I LOVE my 10.5 from October to late May, and for the summer months, I swap to my 7.5.

MrsMook · 14/11/2014 21:34

I still find our 8 tog warm. We have a 13 tog queen size that I can't stand. DH got it when the pregnancy pillow was dominating the bed. I can't stick my limbs out of the flaming thing to be able to cool down. We definitely have different thermostats.

ameliadoop · 14/11/2014 21:49

No idea about togs, but if you're too hot and uncomfortable then it's obviously too thick. Revert to whatever you were using before and put an extra blanket on top of your dh's side if he's cold.

trixymalixy · 14/11/2014 22:00

I have a 13 tog on all year round. What I do find though is if I sleep under a synthetic duvet of the same weight I feel horribly sweaty.

zukiecat · 14/11/2014 22:26

15 tog duvet on all year round here, and my electric blanket on fulk blast in the winter.

I'd be frozen with just a 10.5 tog duvet. I can't often afford heating though and the temperature in my bedroom can go below freezing sometimes. It's bliss getting into my warm, cosy bed!

Comito · 14/11/2014 22:31

Crikey, our duvet is only about 2.5 tog. How can anyone sleep with 10-15 tog?? I think I would actually boil.

Momagain1 · 14/11/2014 22:35

I am in Scotland and not switched to the winter duvet yet. Have begun using the hot water bottle though.

If you have the heat on, can you adjust the radiator in your room? I suspect ours will remain low or off most nights as the size of our bed and layout of the room and requirement that I sleep on the right side means DH is on the radiator side. He will be far too warm sleeping a foot from the radiator.

Tobyjugg · 14/11/2014 23:09

Welcome to the club. She's too hot; I'm too cold. Let me know if you find a solution (separate beds/rooms having been ruled out for various reasons).

Stampysladygarden · 14/11/2014 23:41

Winterbells! That's been a life long fear.

FryOneFatManic · 15/11/2014 15:53

Actually, I do find our 4.5 tog is too hot for summer, and I think I'm going to look for a 2.5 tog. My dad is the same, gets really warm. DP doesn't get quite as warm as me, so occasionally has a Tee on in bed or a blanket on his side for the added extra.

ellieclarke1 · 28/11/2014 10:39

I can't sleep with a thick duvet either!

I normally go for a all seasons duvet that I can use all year round, and just pop on my electric blanket if it gets REALLY cold!

The last duvet I picked up was from The Bedding Company
www.thebeddingcompany.co.uk/duvets/all-seasons/

Worth a look if you're struggling to find the right one for you :)
