To not want this pile of nauseating drivel that passes for an email from Boden?

I have just made my first Boden order and received an email acknowledging it. To quote directly:

Thanks for placing an order with us. You've made us happier than all our favourite things: tea, dogs, crumpets and bank holidays.

There is a fair amount more perky twee crap in a similar vein. A further missive suggests that if I do not dance around my living room with joy upon receiving my order, I should return it for a full refund.

I am a grown woman. I would like an email saying "Thank you for your order. Your order number is xxxx. Our returns policy is blah blah blah."

Am I being utterly curmudgeonly? Does this kind of thing actually make other people feel warm and happy and it's just me who's missing part of their soul?

I expect to be told that this is my own fault for ordering something from Boden - the only defence I can put forward is that it was a winter coat for my dc in the sale.

YANBU. Emma Bridgewater has the same marketing tactic

Mumto3dc · 13/11/2014 04:17

Your mistake was in actually reading what they sent you!

Of course it's all guff, they charge such high prices partly to pay for marketing graduates who do annoying stuff like that!

I've similarly just been sucked into boden by a great money off voucher then 25% off a new coat for ds2. Quite impressed by delivery and quality but studiously ignoring the marketing bollox!

I quite like Boden and their marketing. It doesn't seem to terribly overpriced to me.

Hugo does anyone buy emma bridgwater now? I have one item which i love but not been impressed recently (and the price seemed to have gone up). Never bought anything from borden so not ad any emails. Agree sounds a bit...Confused

My youngest has been wearing Boden winter coats since she was 1, and all coats are still being used and in circulation amongst friends.
Last year I couldn't get a cheapish one in the sale and bought one from debenhams. Zip broke after 5 weeks, the exchanged coat's zip broke after 3 weeks.
By then Boden's coats were reduced and I bought one.

I can put up with twee, as long as the quality stays the same and the vouchers keep coming.
Tbh I only read blah blah order receivedblah blah or blah blah here's money off your next purchase blah blah

They do seem to have a lot of 25-30% off times atm. Johnny getting desperate?

ooooooooo I think im going to order something....

flapjackattack · 13/11/2014 08:16

I've been really disappointed by their customer service this year. Possibly spending too much time on these nauseating marketing efforts now? I only ever order children's clothes, I thought (the twee) it was because of that. It infuriates me as I only by sensible play basics from them, no nosense emails would really fit what I want from them Wink

White Stuff is a teeny bit like that. But while that Boden email makes me feel a bit queasy, White Stuff makes me smile fondly.

Clearly I am a brand loyalty specialist's dream....
