the ending was perfect! He got the exact ending he always predicted, it couldn't have ended any other way (spoilers!!). I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

The episode in the woods - The Pine Barrens - was directed by Steve Buscemi.

YANBU. I loved The Sopranos and The Wire and I don't think there will be anything like them again - the stories were allowed to move slowly, building characters naturally as they went along, not everything that happened had to instantly lead to something IYKWIM. I don't think tv writers believe that viewers have the patience for that kind of storytelling now, there seems to be a quicker pace in popular tv shows. I think the kind of show that you have to really invest in and concentrate on is more satisfying in the end and The Sopranos and The Wire are definitely in that category.

I fell madly in love with JG too - the scene with Gloria at the zoo! Blush

I love Game of Thrones, but it's not exactly a slow burner - there's load of action and sex and someone dies in every episode! But yes it's more like those series I mentioned than a lot of programs.

Tbf it's just HBO shows (some fx aswell, breaking bad is very slow paced at tunes)

HBO are subscription, they cater to a certain kind of viewer and because they're subscription they're not as reliant on high ratings and sponsors.
So they can try different things and take their time

Its got a lot of action but plot wise is quite a slow burner, theres still plenty that hasnt been dealt with yet. Jon Snow's mum for instance? But if you're comparing it to soaps and the dirge the BBC calls drama then yes I agree.

I like HBO, think they make some brilliant shows many of which dont get enough accolades.
