to get annoyed when people tell me my ds is hungry?

My DS is now 12 weeks and is difficult to settle to sleep when tired.

On occasions when we've been out and he's been moaning (not full on crying) some people have commented to me that he's hungry. It really gets my back up.

I generally time it so he's fed before we go out and hes a very good feeder. Lasts 2/3 hours before he's hungry again.

I went to the shop 5 minutes up the road in the late afternoon yesterday (after a feed) and he was moaning at the till, the lady said 'Oh he's hungry' I replied 'No he's not. He's tired and finds it hard to sleep hence why we're having a walk'.
I walked home annoyed.

Aibu to be getting annoyed at these people?!

Bloody hell, lighten up! As a previous poster said it's just people trying to interact. Of course they don't know your babies actual cries, they're just trying to show an interest. I live very close to a parade of shops, co-op, butcher, antique shops, weirdly snake shop, a cafe....they've known my DS his whole life and now at 3 he knows everyone too. Just laugh and say "definitely not hungry! Just in a bit of a grump because he's tired."

There is really no need to get all uppity, people will just think you're bonkers. As for the Mum who said "well I'm a mum of 3..." Blimey. People are just trying to be nice. Who was ruder, you or him?

It is harmless small talk- they don't mean anything at all by it!

If you are planning to give him nothing but breast milk until he is six months old then you will definitely need to grow the hide of a rhino. You'll constantly be deflecting all the hmm looks and the shock and horror emanating from anyone who has a child over 15.

Pretty much everyone I know did this Hmm

Where are all these people with odd ideas about bfing? I never met a single one! What on earth would people say?

I agree with SurfsUp. Both of mine were EBF until 6 months and the only problem, really, was my MIL trying to give them chocolate or whatever.

MIL tried to give DD a pizza crust when she was 4 months old (we waited to wean till 6 months) 'because she looked hungry.' Grin
