Angry EW stop it! I don't want to know that you're "nomming" your food. Biscuit

OP posts:
forago · 09/11/2014 09:53

I agree, its repulsive. Makes me think the people who say it on Facebook, along with a picture if their unappetising looking dinner, are absolute pigs.

Only1scoop · 09/11/2014 13:54

Hopping....I would have to boycott that establishment ....even if the produced the finest take away in a 30 mile radius....

Mulligrubs · 09/11/2014 13:58

I'm currently nomming on a yoghurt. Om nom nom Smile

Only1scoop · 09/11/2014 14:02
Confused
Nancery · 09/11/2014 14:06

Hate it too!

ireallydontlikemonday · 09/11/2014 14:10

Nom non and play date. CRINGE.

jasper · 09/11/2014 15:09

me too. I want to kill them

Ohfourfoxache · 09/11/2014 15:19

Thank fuck I'm not the only one.

DSis and DBil say/post this fairly regularly - love them dearly but this gives me the rage.

As do adults who put on baby voices for no apparent reason - speak normally, ffs!

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 09/11/2014 17:19

I hate this as much as those cakes "yum yums"...what a stupid name for a cake.

Pigmella · 09/11/2014 17:37

I have never in my entire life heard the phrases nom nom or nomming. Is it a young people thing? I am over 45!

readysteady · 09/11/2014 17:42

I may be wrong but I think the nom nom thing comes from the cut the rope game.

championnibbler · 09/11/2014 17:57

I don't mind it as much as i mind people smacking their chops when they eat. Or sucking their teeth when they're done - that drives me mad.

polyhymnia · 09/11/2014 18:03

Sam as Pigmella here. Never heard if the word/s.

MiddletonPink · 09/11/2014 18:06

Yum yum and yummy is as bad as nom nom. Well nearly as bad.

Grown women should not be saying any of the above.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 09/11/2014 18:12

I can't bear the word 'linky'- Mumsnet are one of the worst culprits, using this infantile lengthening of 'link' all over FB and twitter.

Whoever writes it has been spending too much time around small children. Smile

Tanith · 10/11/2014 10:54

I thought it came from the Cut The Rope game. Nom Nom is a little monster that loves munching sweets and you have to feed him. He has such a sad little face when the sweet is lost or destroyed Sad

cherrybombxo · 10/11/2014 11:28

YADNBU, om nom nom makes me cringe, it's awful. I also hate when people post statuses about "getting some noms" if they're out for lunch Angry

Aberchips · 10/11/2014 11:29

YANBU - can I also add to the list "yummer" - not even a real word & people who like to photograph food & then post pictures on social media with #getinmybelly - just make me think of the food jumping off the plate & down their throats!! possibly choking them on the way down

BertieBotts · 10/11/2014 11:37

Come ON, it wasn't from a game, it was from iCanHazCheezburgr.

I'm pretty sure it was this exact image which started it (except I can't find the captioned version) Om nom

I think it's funny and use it all the time. Most of the other words mentioned here are annoying though.

It's not the same thing as yum, though, it's supposed to be an eating noise, like Homer Simpson scarfing a doughnut.

Eminybob · 10/11/2014 12:11

A little off topic, but a person who I am friends with on facebook, but who's statuses I have hidden writes tym for time. As in wat tym shud we meet 2nite hun lol xx
The rest of the shit text speak I can barely abide but tym gives me rage x 1000. Just why?

Anyway as it happens I don't have a huge issue with nom nom. I have been known to use it on occasion (never on Facebook though) and would like to think I am of reasonable intelligence.

duchesse · 10/11/2014 18:29

Me too. I think it's cos it's such a tired and unoriginal phrase, it's used so much now.

Doubtfuldaphne · 10/11/2014 20:40

I just fucking hate 'yummy'

My sil and Dh say it and it makes me want to scream.
