Me, Labour.

OP posts:
crapcrapcrapcrap · 08/11/2014 21:12

SNP. They are the only people who are actually going to fight for Scottish interests. Labour have proven that they will put party above Scottish interests, so who else can you vote for? Plus, Nicola Sturgeon is a fantastic politician, bit fiery but honest and strong. Labour up here are a complete shambles, they're trying to put Jim Murphy in charge (yes, he of the Network Hmm) and the Lib Dems' sellout will not be forgotten any time soon. SNP all the way.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 08/11/2014 21:19

Ivegotthree, can I ask you in what areas you think the Tories "have got the country back on its economic feet after Labour left it in such disarray" ?

Because people are saying that, but by any sensible indicator (like size of deficit or government borrowing) they've done much worse.

Did you read it in the paper, online maybe, or is it just something you feel from looking around you, or...?

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 08/11/2014 21:20

(or anyone really, just ivegotthree made the comment)

crapcrapcrapcrap · 08/11/2014 21:33

Agree Boulevard. The austerity measures have done shit all to reduce the deficit. They've harmed the poorest and weakest in society immeasurably though, and kept the rich rich. Ho hum.

TheWhisperingDeath · 08/11/2014 21:37

Green, possibly.

Always voted Labour but tactically voted for LD last time and will never do that again.

Jjcrackers · 08/11/2014 21:44

Tory. I feel labour created the problem and at least the Tories are trying to get us out of it

Besides I can't have Wallace as pm

crapcrapcrapcrap · 08/11/2014 21:51

The Tories are failing to get us out of it.

Any government who insists on prioritising big business over the needs of the population will fail to get us out of it.

deeedeee · 08/11/2014 21:52

I can't believe how many people actually believe the whole deficit lie! You utter idiots

Letthemtalk · 08/11/2014 21:55

SNP

I think if UKIP get in there will be a revolution in Scotland

MassaAttack · 08/11/2014 21:56

Labour. Our candidate is fab.

They've fucked up over Scotland though.

deeedeee · 08/11/2014 22:01

Can anyone actually find any evidence atall that the conservatives are fixing the economy?

MajesticWhine · 08/11/2014 22:01

deeedeee - what would you do about the deficit? Or do you not think it's a problem.

BeccadeWinter · 08/11/2014 22:03

Greens, assuming they have a local candidate. I'm a life-long Labour voter (and was a party member for several years) but I really feel they're unelectable with Miliband as leader.

I could never in good conscience vote Conservative as I fundamentally disagree with almost everything they stand for; the Lib Dems don't deserve a single vote after screwing-over students in 2010; UKIP are not a party I believe in, and I also don't believe in 'protest voting', so they won't get my vote...

So, if there's a Green candidate they'll get my vote, otherwise I'll spoil my ballot paper.

crapcrapcrapcrap · 08/11/2014 22:11

Beccade the Greens could do well here. They are the only credible, anti-austerity, localist, socialist party. I hope enough people have the balls to vote for them instead of "tactically" voting for Labour. Here in Scotland they have seen a huge upsurge in membership after a really fantastic contribution to the referendum campaign. I'd love to see them have some more success in WM. Their policies are a big jump but some of them truly are common sense and much less tree-huggy and radical than I was expecting.

BeccadeWinter · 08/11/2014 22:16

Oh, to add to my previous post, if Labour were to get rid of Miliband (I'm not exactly advocating it at this stage. Perhaps a year ago?!) they might have a chance of keeping my vote, though that entirely depends on who takes over.

Ed Balls - No way. Literally can't think of a worse decision the party could make.
Yvette Cooper - Possibly, despite her husband...
Andy Burnham - Possible, though I'm not certain what he truly stands for

Beyond those three I don't know who could stand a chance at leadership?

Sallyingforth · 08/11/2014 22:48

deedee Democracy is a about voting, and accepting the will of the majority. I think the majority in Scotland have saved you from some very unpleasant consequences that would have resulted from SNPs lies.

My vote? It will be tactical rather than for a chosen party. I will vote for what looks most likely to keep UKIP out of my constituency.

WillkommenBienvenue · 08/11/2014 22:55

If the Labour climb down off their high horse and make a deal with the LibDem I will vote for them, but won't be risking my vote on a stalking horse again and will only vote Labour. Not that they are exactly gleaming and finely tuned at the moment, still highly unpredictable, tarnished and with a broken sat nav. Labour really need a good service and a new registered keeper wouldn't go amiss.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 08/11/2014 23:04

MajesticWhine there are many answers to that depending on your school of economic thought - but surely 'make it worse' isn't top of the list...? Which is what the Tories have done. Despite the spin.

Chipstick10 · 08/11/2014 23:12

Diane Abbott!!!!! That is too funny Grin

FruitCakey · 08/11/2014 23:15

UKIP are getting my vote!

30somethingm · 08/11/2014 23:43

Apparently our economic "recovery" is built on consumer spending at a time when wages are falling. This can only mean that this is a personal-debt-fueled "recovery", which surely cannot end well in the long run?

JoanHickson · 08/11/2014 23:44

Not bnp or u kip. Will decide near the time.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 09/11/2014 09:12

i voted for the monster raving loony party last time.

deeedeee · 09/11/2014 09:18

I can't believe so many people see the "deficit " as some kind of national credit card repayment thing where we need to tighten our collective belts by haranguing our vulnerable! rather than what it actually is. Which is a pseudo economic political justification spouted in order to carry on neoliberalism policies.

rollonthesummer · 09/11/2014 10:16

Every time I decide that, yes, I will vote Labour, Tristram Hunt opens his mouth and Conservative ideas come out. I presume he is trying to appeal to Tory voters, but that is clearly more important to him than getting the millions of teacher votes. All labour had to do to get the teachers behind them, was to say absolutely nothing on education!!
