My 87 year old dad was taken into hospital last Wednesday with a possible stroke. Not all the symptoms matched but it's what mum has been saying because it's what the GP said to her. Dad was very well known and there are a lot of people enquiring about his health.

On Friday we found out it's actually a growth in his brain. Mum and I are due to see the consultant later to get the full information. I'm not expecting it to be good news. People know we're meeting the consultant today and I've already had a few people say that they'd call me to get the results.

I got a shock on Friday when I heard about the growth and ended up bursting into tears when I got home. AIBU to turn off my phone today until I get my head around things?

So sorry to hear that - some people can be intrusive. I would just be brisk if you have to talk to this woman - keep it short and to the point.

So mum had an operation to reset the bone yesterday. It was supposed to be a day case but she was a bit chesty after so they kept her overnight on oxygen. She was supposed to be released today but just talked to the ward and she's being kept again.

This has ment DD and I have had to stay overnight with my Aunt. It's not a HUGE problem but DD doesn't sleep well in strange places and was awake or attached to a boob pretty much every hour last night. Also Aunt is having lots of visitors and that kept DD waking.

Dad is supposed to be released tomorrow. Need to talk to someone today about how circumstances have changed and can I accept home help for him even though he turned it down.
