Partially nostalgia, partially because I want to use them as ideas for Christmas pressies for DC and DNs this year.
Most of the things I remember really loving aren't readily available now,or were homemade but lego, scalextric and games like operation were big hits for us as kids. There were others I struggle to remember the names of but can kind of picture that I am hoping might come up in this!

Monopoly, pogo stick, cards, dolls, teddys , sylvanian families, books, bike, roller skates, climbing frame, work bench and real tools, mr frostie, playdoh hairdressers

Ilovehamabeads · 03/11/2014 01:05

my Merlin and my palitoy treehouse were hands down the best Xmas pressies I ever had. You could play several different games on Merlin or play tunes and I adored it. The treehouse was so cool with its little slide and swing for the figures to play on.
Spirograph was also a winner but when I bought a new one a few years ago for me my DD it seemed flimsier and not so good.

I loved those chemical "crystal gardens" where you grew crystals on a rock (and variations on them).

Scarletohello · 03/11/2014 01:48

Fuzzy Felt. Wish I had one now. Do they still sell them?

Coloured embroidery thread for making friendship bracelets. Lego. Lite-brite. A tea set.

Whippet81 · 03/11/2014 07:36

I bought my nephews Guess Who a couple of years ago. Went down a treat.

Playmobile
Rings on your fingers
Game if life

Dh choice

Lego (which i personally hated as my items always broke into pieces when i played with them)

londonrach · 03/11/2014 07:43

Ilove. I loved my merlin too. Fav game was the music one. Mastered the copy cat one very early on.

londonrach · 03/11/2014 07:44

Scarlet they do. In fact add fuzzyfelt to my list. Also bikes, damming up the steam, climbing trees, football

mimiasovitch · 03/11/2014 07:49

I still love fuzzy felt now. We play a game where we each have a board and a set number of pieces and compete to make the most ludicrous best picture.

When I was in primary (late 70s early 80s) my nan bought me a little doll called Matilda, and loads of outfits. She was a girl doll rather than Barbie like, and I adored her. I've found her on google, but not to buy sadly.

FabulousFudge · 03/11/2014 19:57

I'm pretty sure you can still buy fuzzy felt. I loved screwball scramble too.

mrspremise · 03/11/2014 20:22

Lego, Sylvanian Families, Spirograph, Hama beads, FIMO, Monopoly, UNO, knitting, jigsaws, drawing & colouring, fuzzy felt? (think you can still get it).

Sindy was WAY better than Barbie, though Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/11/2014 20:24

I still hold minor resentment that I was never allowed Sylvanian Families for no good reason.

frankie001 · 03/11/2014 20:26

Trolls!

UsedtobeFeckless · 03/11/2014 21:11

Our two had a whale of a time with DP's lego and little army men.

kalidasa · 03/11/2014 21:32

bikkett I think I know what you mean, I had it too, or something very similar - I'm pretty sure mine was a Winnie the Pooh game. Might that help you find it?

theposterformallyknownas · 03/11/2014 21:35

Guess who.
Those flicker hands with counters going into an open mouth, there have been many themes throughout the years.
Oh yes screwball scramble
mousetrap

theposterformallyknownas · 03/11/2014 21:37

Simon, still around but in cubes now

theposterformallyknownas · 03/11/2014 21:41

I still have our families spirograph, some of the original paper and the little tubs of pins to hold in place.
DD loves it as her brothers did before.

Longdistance · 03/11/2014 21:47

We had operation, and dds have this now.

We never had guess who, but dds have it.

I had Sindy dolls, and my DM used to help me choose clothes to buy them.

My bf had an amazing Sindy collection, with the house which had a lift, and all the furniture. I was soooo Envy, but stayed and played with her, and her dolls for ages.

I had Cabbage Patch dolls. They're on a comeback, but I don't think dds like them much.

We had Rubik's cubes and the puzzle games, naturally being Hungarian we were supposed to be good at them Confused

catsofa · 03/11/2014 21:53

Spiro graph.

A dolls house - just any old wooden one, it wasn't branded, but Playmobile people wwere the right size for it and I made loads of stuff for it with Lego, and plates and dishes out of acorn cups, and wallpaper and curtains and all kinds of things for years and years.

Guess Who although I was an only child so no one to actually play it with.
