Partially nostalgia, partially because I want to use them as ideas for Christmas pressies for DC and DNs this year.
Most of the things I remember really loving aren't readily available now,or were homemade but lego, scalextric and games like operation were big hits for us as kids. There were others I struggle to remember the names of but can kind of picture that I am hoping might come up in this!

Spirograph? Does it still exist?

Takver · 02/11/2014 21:48

Bizarrely, a toy Post Office set. I loved it when I was a kid, and was chuffed to find that not only can you still buy them, but they get lots of 5 star reviews on Amazon. (I don't think you get toy Postal Orders any more, though Grin )

Pifflingcodswollop · 02/11/2014 21:52

Oh yes Saucy! Keypers were brilliant!! Also I remember Spirograph and have just remembered 'litebrite'!

Hungry Hippos!

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/11/2014 21:54

Barbie, Play Mobil, all the board games.

I would say my little pony but they look weird now.

Polly Pocket is now more like Polly in your Bag.

Do GeoSafaris still exist? I loved mine so much!

wheresthelight · 02/11/2014 22:02

we were a board game type of family so things like;
buckaroo
cluedo
monopoly
hungry hippos
mouse trap
snakes and ladders

but I also remember having a gorgeous victorian dolls house, weebles (new ones are shit though), I was a complete bookworm though so usually I got things like the complete Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, cs Lewis, Lewis Carroll and classics like Jane Austen

The Simon electronic thing that you had to remember the sequence of the colours it gave you. Rubik's cubes, Teddy Ruxpin. I was a teenager in the 80s but used to love my sisters toys.

thatsn0tmyname · 02/11/2014 22:14

Hungry Hippos, fuzzy felt

ILovePud · 02/11/2014 22:17

I loved Fimo as a kid, used to craft accessories and food for my Sylvanian families.

PiperIsOrangePumpkins · 02/11/2014 22:19

I always wanted a Mr frosty.

ILovePud · 02/11/2014 22:21

Ahh Piper I feel your pain, I wanted a Mr Frosty and a girls world head and was horribly jealous of Gilly up the road who had both.

VinoEsmeralda · 02/11/2014 22:21

Stratego, luckily found a 2nd hand version in shop ( not seen stratego new). Risk the old version with quest cards! Marbles in all shapes and colours

magicpixie · 02/11/2014 22:22

lego and dino figs

amy83firsttimer · 02/11/2014 22:31

Girls world
Tiny tears doll
Slinky
Skateboard

FixItUpChappie · 02/11/2014 22:31

Light Bright. Though I can't vouch for how good it is now. I notice many games and such that I loved as a kid have been refurnished with terrible cheap flimsy plastic bits. I bought CandyLand and it is really terrible compared to the sturdy version my mom still has in her basement.

BikketBikketBikket · 02/11/2014 23:01

When my DD was small she had a game that was similar to dominos - but the cards had bits of teddy bears on, and as you put them down, if you completed a bear, you were rewarded with a honey pot card... She adored it and we played it and played it until it was in tatters Smile

Fast forward 30 years and I have a DGD who I think would love it - can I remember what the game was called..? Can I heck.... Confused I've hunted on Google but without success Sad

If anyone has any idea (or mercy!) what it was called, could you let me know, so that I can see whether it's still produced...??? Thanks.

We had this thing called Majokit. It's like a plastic kit and you make loads of streets. It has street furniture, pavements, street signs etc. I loved playing with cars so I loved it. Plan to look for it for my DC if it's still going.

I really wanted Screwball Scramble.

ChickenMe · 03/11/2014 00:22

Ah just googled it-it's not going anymore Sad

ghostyslovesheep · 03/11/2014 00:22

DD3 has been playing all weekend with my Sindy caravan, horses and dolls - all from Ebay

All 2 kids enjoyed playing with Fisher Price stuff (school house, fairground train) also from Ebay

ChickenMe · 03/11/2014 00:25
