The death penalty is abhorrent and is all the more so for medieval nonsense like blasphemy and apostasy. But, what has the number of kids got to do with anything?

I think there have to be 10000 signatures before a petition will be looked at by the government. That could be complete rubbish though, so don't quote me.

I don't think her having 5 children is the issue either.

However I'm very glad that the OP posted this thread and I'm wondering whether we could all cut her a bit of slack about the mention of the children. It's obviously something that preyed on her mind... possibly because she is a mother too.

Nobody should face the death sentence for this kind of offence. We should be disgusted at whoever did. The fact that she is a mother with five children shouldn't be in the argument. It's barbaric and downright evil.

On the point of mentioning the children, I honestly can`t remember why I put that as the title - I think I copied it from someone else - maybe an article somewhere.

It certainly doesn`t make it worse than someone without children.

I suppose it was just a description, as we don`t know much about her.

It didn't put me off OP. It just made me think what a dreadful injustice this is for anyone whoever they are having to suffer a fate like this in this day and age.

God how terrible. I think her children are very relevant indeed. Apart from the emotional impact, which will be horrific enough, what are their chances? I'm not sure about social security in Pakistan, but I would suspect not great. At the very least, some of the kids will have to give up school to work, if they don't already. I also think they might well face persecution too.
