Sentenced because her neighbours alleged she made disparaging remarks about Islam. Would you like to sign to stop this persecution - information and petition here:

YouAreAMouse - I was thinking similar to what you wrote.

For her sake I really hope those with political power can intervene.

Not in this case. It is religiously mandated. Many others have died at the hands of lynch mobs for similar 'transgressions'.

There has been a recent epidemic of blasphemy charges in Pakistan. Forty-eight people have been killed before they could get to a trial. Many more are being prosecuted. It is difficult for a brave lawyer to defend a client, because if you repeat what the person is accused of saying, that is blasphemous too.

The hatred is driven by the Islamic religious edict to 'kill those who insult the prophet'. Here's a helpful explanation as to why !

Whoever insults the Messenger of Allaah , is to be executed for that takes one out of the fold of Islam. This ruling applies to Muslim individuals; however, executing non-Muslims who are Thimmi (non-Muslims living in an Islamic state) is not a unanimous agreement among the scholars. Even if we suppose that it is obligatory to execute whoever does this, it may be left for the interest of softening the non-Muslims' hearts towards Islam as stated by Ash-Shawkaani may Allaah have mercy upon him in Nayl Al-Awtaar.

Any muslim sisters around who can spare some time from whinging about Islamophobia to tackle the much more serious problem of kaffirphobia ?

Marmotte3 · 22/10/2014 23:52

MistressMia - What I'm trying to say is people (usually men) chose to create the rules and regulations for every religion that exists on this planet. From what I have experienced & seen religion is simply another 'tool' used to exert power & control over others.

MistressMia · 23/10/2014 00:11

Marmotte - that may be true of other religions, but in Islam the instructions are from the Quran which muslims believe to be the unaltered word of God.

As such in this particular instance the actions are directly attributable to Islamic teachings.

And yes like you, I too think (know) that the Quran and and other Islamic texts are also just man-made crap, however muslims don't. I just wanted to make it clear that the basis for this madness is in this case is religion, as it is for the majority of all the other current daily atrocities.

alemci · 23/10/2014 13:05
