To not want to pay £80 for my family to visit center parcs for the day?

Not for swimming - just to see our friends who are staying there, have lunch with em, explore the park. What a rip off! Or am I being tight??

Can you use the facilities while you're there and is it for a full day?

CocktailQueen · 18/10/2014 11:17

You can if you want to - it's one price for everything. But we won't - dd has a cold. It won't be a full day - will be an afternoon.

I wouldn't pay that either, not unless you're doing some amazing activities that aren't available elsewhere. Get your friends to leave the site and meet you elsewhere.

Chippednailvarnish · 18/10/2014 11:18

I've done this before and I thought it was fine. We had breakfast at my friends accommodation, went swimming, took our bikes cycled around, my Dc's did an activity whilst I used the spa. Went out for dinner, the Dc's then played in the playground whilst we sat outside having a few drinks...

HermioneWeasley · 18/10/2014 11:19

Well I don't think it's U for centre parcs to charge that for a family for the day since you could use the facilities, but if you're just meeting up for lunch, it would be mad to pay it. Especially since the food at CP is mediocre at best. Tell you friends to come offsite - it's a no brainer.

FelixTitling · 18/10/2014 11:22

Are you going to use the pool? If so, it's well worth it. Look at how much it would cost you to visit a waterpark and compare.

Add in the fact that your time in the pool won't be limited. We spent 4 hours in the pool last time we went for the day. It would have cost more for less time at blackpool sandcastle and not been as good.

That said, some centreparcs pools are better than others. Which one are you going to?

FelixTitling · 18/10/2014 11:23

Sorry, just saw your previous post. Sounds like it's not worth it for you. Get them to come off site as pp suggested.

TooMuchCantBreathe · 18/10/2014 11:24

Sometimes they give people a voucher for visitors so some of you might get on free if your friends have one you can use?

SevenZarkSeven · 18/10/2014 11:27

Why not just meet them somewhere else.

Basically you are looking at a ticket for a "day trip to centre parcs and use teh facilities" when that isn't what you want! Not unreasonable of them to charge what they like and the market will support. But you don't want that so do something else.

redmum2 · 18/10/2014 11:45

If there are less of you staying than the max occupancy of the lodge then you could add them on as if they were staying and just let them know at check in they're arriving later - would reduce the number you have to pay for

Nanny0gg · 18/10/2014 11:48

Why don't you go for the day, and why does having a cold preclude swimming? (unless she feels poorly with it)

CocktailQueen · 18/10/2014 12:45

Because we were busy all morning and dd is full of snot and her head us all bunged up - swimming not fair to her or anyone else in pool!
Thanks all.

I had hoped CP would have a day ticket for non swimmers too...

ClashCityRocker · 18/10/2014 12:49

I don't think it's worth it for you, but don't think it is hugely unreasonable if you were able to stay all day and make use of the facilities.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/10/2014 12:51

People pay it happily.

I live fairly close to CP and if we go and stay for the weekend I'm inundated with requests from colleagues and neighbours to sort out day tickets for them.

Fairenuff · 18/10/2014 12:56

It's not a prison, they can leave the park to have lunch with you. I wouldn't pay that if you're not planning on using the facilities because you will just be paying for something that you're not going to use.

whois · 18/10/2014 13:05

Not sure I'd want to go to the hassle ofeaving CP for lunch if I had paid £loads to be on holiday in the (metaphorical not actual) bubble.

£80 fair to use the facilities but doesn't sound like you will get any value out of the trip.

Mayvis · 18/10/2014 13:06

Isn't it £10 per person for a day pass?

Seems reasonable to me.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 18/10/2014 13:06

While we're on the subject, if you go to CP for a spa day, are you allowed to use the swimming pool with slides etc too. It would be the Sherwood one, if it makes a difference.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/10/2014 13:07

I think its £20 each. Or maybe £25 per adult and £15 per child.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/10/2014 13:07

Ilkley, yes you can. And you can eat in the restaurants, etc if you want to.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/10/2014 13:08

Yes if I was at CP I wouldn't want to leave to meet friends for lunch. It costs a lot to go so I like to stay and get my money's worth. Grin

Mayvis · 18/10/2014 13:13

I've checked price.

£20 adult
£15 child
£60 group of 4

Under 4's free

Flux7001 · 18/10/2014 13:18

It's not worth it if youre not using the facilities. Can they meet you outside of CP for lunch?

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 18/10/2014 13:24

Thanks Viva

LEMmingaround · 18/10/2014 13:29

£80 to use their swimming pool and playground????? Anyone who pays that needs their heads looking at. Why would you do that???
