A new guy started at work today and he said something along the lines of he was glad to have got the job as he had recently moved in with his "life partner"

He is straight, as he later referred to his girlfriend.

Would you ever refer to your husband or boyfriend as a "life partner"

It sounds like he's a bit pleased and excited at having made the commitment and moved in with her and is all grown up now! It's sweet.

I sometimes introduce my dh as 'my current husband' to keep him on his ties.

ExH once told me I was his life partner.

How wrong he was!

I'm 26, I wouldn't call DP my boyfriend as I feel to old to say it Confused. That said it may depend on who I'm talking to. Usually if I'm in conversation with people who have never met DP I would say partner to save confusion as I think using a name can make people think "who is that?" and sounds as if the people in the conversation should know them.

I say boyfriend but I do feel like a bit of a twat saying it. Partner seems so businesslike, life partner seems naive and desperate. Maybe I'll start calling him "the old ball and chain" instead. Wink

I LOVE "to take a lover"! It's so Joan Collins.
