He's due to catch a flight in Atlanta in 4 hours, I was expecting to hear from him at least 3 hours ago. He has been driving from North Carolina to Atlanta, and the last text I had from him was 8 hours ago.

He's not answering texts or phone calls.

The airline wont tell me if he's checked in, and I don't know what to do.

Maybe he is stuck in traffic and not arrived at the airport yet?

We have been in contact at least twice a day since he went away. When he drove from Atlanta to North Carolina, he contacted me before he set off, when he stopped for lunch and when he arrived at his hotel. That drive was 8 hours from start to finish.

So today I know he had a meeting at 12:30 and was leaving for Atlanta straight after, I guess about an hour later. He texted me at 14:30 (UK time) to say he was stopping for breakfast. He may have read a text from me at about 19:00. But I haven't actually heard from him for 9 hours now.

This is not like him.

I had not considered that the bad weather there might affect communications, so that is comforting.

Do take on board what a PP said, he may be preserving battery in order to prove his phone works while going through security as this is now a requirement. Try not to worry.

Hakluyt · 15/10/2014 23:49

Do you actually need him for anything?

PurpleSwift · 15/10/2014 23:52

I wouldn't worry yet op. Probably just singalong issues.

grovel · 15/10/2014 23:57

OP, your worry is completely understandable but please know that my really reliable DH (with 150 US entry stamps in his passport(s) over the course of our relationship/marriage) failed to make expected contact at least 15 times. His reasons always stacked up. Mad dash through airport, over-long meetings, storms, phone battery etc etc.

I shat myself every time. Have a drink.

grovel · 16/10/2014 00:00

Sorry if that sounds wrong. I'm just saying I've been in your position and it's always turned out OK. Horrible for you, though. xx

SageMist · 16/10/2014 00:01

He's just texted from the airport. Phew.

I think I'll have a glass of wine now!

Thanks for holding my hand.

So glad he texted OP! Smile

CallMeExhausted · 16/10/2014 00:08

So happy to hear all is well.

Have a bottle.

grovel · 16/10/2014 00:15

Big hug, Sage.

Gruntfuttock · 16/10/2014 00:25

That's a relief! Enjoy your wine, Sage Smile I would've been every bit as worried as you.

SageMist · 16/10/2014 00:35

Don't drink very much usually, but glass of Rioja is hitting the spot.

Dh is very tired, so suspect it's not been a great journey. He loves driving normally and gets to airports at least 5 hours too early.

Glad all is well. I'd have worried just as much.
