To be upset over lack of birthday card...

So, today it's my birthday, not a special one but the first as a mummy - my DD is 10 months old. My DP forgot to get me a card from her! Feel really upset, I know it's only a card but it was my first chance to get a "happy birthday mummy" card. Have told him I am upset- I was actually in tears, couldn't help it, now he feels really bad. AIBU to be in a mood with him? We have a lovely family day planned, but now am just in a bad mood that I can't shift!!

Really don't understand this individual card from babies thing. I have just started to get separate birthday cards from my children (as opposed to one card from husband and children combined) and that's because they are in their 20s and don't live at home anymore.

I am sorry I cant contain it any longer.

YABU, he has made lots of effort to celebrate your birthday yet you are whinging that he hasnt sent a pretend card from your 10 month old DD.

I would have thought My DH had lost his mind if he had sent me a 'mummy' card.

Hey hey what about gender equality here?! I'd like to reserve a woman's right to forget birthday cards too! Wink

I didnt actually get a card from my then DP when I had my first birthday as a mum, but then DD was only 3 days old and I was still in hospital, exDP didnt get a card either for his birthday 2 days later, we had other things to do, not sleeping being one of them.

Hope you have a nice day out OP.

Well have had a lovely day in the end. I do realise I was a bit soppy over it this morning, but as so many on here have said - it can mean a lot, and I guess was more the lack of thought. Still disappointed, and I have no doubt he won't forget again!
For the record, he is an amazing bloke, I did not have a go at him or winge on all day. Just genuinely upset this morning when he gave me gifts/cards and there was nothing from DD and struggled to control my emotions.
Anyways, thanks for all the happy birthdays Smile am off to drink some Wine and relax while my wonderful (yet forgetful!) DP cooks me dinner!
