To think two slices of toast is standard?

Been in bed most of the day with awful PGP. Struggling to move.

35 weeks pregnant.

Text DH to request some toast and he brought up one measly slice. He is now huffing around because I had the audacity to ask for a second slice.

Surely, when making toast, two slices is the norm unless a different number of slices is specifically requested from the outset?

Good lord, it's suddenly gone like the Four Yorkshiremen. "Oor dinner were two crumbs with a cup o' dishwater. No dripping."

MrsMook · 13/10/2014 20:01

My 3 year old expects 2 slices. Cut into squares. One slice is for 1 year olds.

Stuck in bed with PGP/ SPD, you're allowed to demand what you like.

MummyLuce · 13/10/2014 20:01

I throw it...or take it to feed the ducks with the dcs...

squoosh · 13/10/2014 20:02

They gave you half a slice of toast with your cooked breakfast? Shock

They may as well spat in your breakfast in front of you.

SarniaCherie · 13/10/2014 20:08

If I'm doing it for myself I only toast one at a time as I like it really hot and the butter melted. The second slice is then toasted whilst I stand by the toaster eating the first slice of buttery goodness.

SpidersDontWashTheirHands · 13/10/2014 20:09

Why don't you microwave it the next day? hmm? Splattercash! Wink

I hope that cooked breakfast was cheap. Were you at a Little Chef?

phantomnamechanger · 13/10/2014 20:13

I know squoosh, I know. I did wonder whether there was a shortage of bread locally.
What happens to all the other half slices. I assume DH and I shared a slice (how romantic) but what if there is a long time in between people who order brekky? Do people know they are getting left over toast from some other customer?

SpidersDontWashTheirHands · 13/10/2014 20:16

OhPhantom you've reminded me of the time I worked as a hotel dogsbody and staff breakfast was the toast that came back on the toast rack. Second-hand, cold toast sreved at 10 am when we'd been in work since 7.

phantomnamechanger · 13/10/2014 20:16

yes it was quite cheap (£4ish I think?), no it was not little chef (not been in one for years but they were not cheap then!!)

I just thought it was strange, to list bacon, egg, etc etc including toast and it to be half a slice.

Neffi · 13/10/2014 21:12

One slice of toast is diet portions. Two slices is normal. If you're going to have more than two it has to four otherwise you're back to the wasting half of the toaster argument.

I'm quite liking it cut into squares at the moment although I do appreciate the beauty of a corner to corner slice.

Butter and strawberry jam are the only acceptable breakfast toppings.

TsukuruTazaki · 13/10/2014 21:18

Obviously it's 2 pieces for a standard portion

Best topping is peanut butter

Daddypigsgusset · 13/10/2014 21:23

I have got to be the only person in the world who doesn't like toast

squoosh · 13/10/2014 21:25

I'm highly suspicious of people who eschew toast.

RonaldMcDonald · 13/10/2014 21:35

I love toast but can't eat it
it makes me drool
actually drool

Purplepixiedust · 13/10/2014 22:58

2 slices is normal but if he wasn't sure he could ask. Surely he doesn't think 1 is normal?!

Bugger, now I need to go make toast...

landrover · 13/10/2014 23:24

LTB!!!!! Absolutely xx It has to be 2
