In the DM, every single article seems to be defining Great British Bake Off Winner Nancy, by her age.

Do people really think that your cooking ability declines with age? And 60 really? Why is it amazing that someone of 60 can cook better than people younger than her?

Cooking (or baking) is not age, sex, profession, class or anything else related. Skill is dependent on talent, practice, determination and a love of food!

it's the biggest programme on TV - no idea how people have avoided finding out the winner.

Again, this is a social media forum, what did you expect?! As I said up thread, when I want to avoid knowing who won something, I avoid FB, twitter and all forums. You cannot expect people to not want to talk about the winner of a very popular TV show.

Back on topic, the OP is right 60 is hardly news worthy, nor is being a grandma.

We have a lady of 86 who still turns out huge batches of beautiful scones and homemade jam to go on them and does fancy cakes for our special events. Nancy is way young enough to be her DD.

Do be careful people, Paul Hollywood is at HQ right this minute and he might mention the winner and then you'd be all upset again!
