I hate to moan but we don't do Disney in our house. Not yet anyway. But yesterday my reception aged child came home singing Frozen after apparently watching it in class as a treat. I just don't feel comfortable with it. Am I being unreasonable?

What makes you uncomfortable?

lylasmam2012 · 09/10/2014 11:54

YABU, what do you have against Disney?

NiceAndAccurate · 09/10/2014 11:54

Yes you are BU. You can't enforce the rules in your house on a class full of children.

Pootles2010 · 09/10/2014 11:55

You need to let it go, I think.

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 09/10/2014 11:56

Pootles. I love you.

Fairylea · 09/10/2014 11:56

What on earth is wrong with Disney? It's not like they let them watch reservoir dogs.

middlings · 09/10/2014 11:56

Pootles you just made me spit tea out my nose at my desk.

(and I haven't even seen the bloody film)

SaucyJack · 09/10/2014 11:56

I think you're confusing Disney with Tarantino.

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 09/10/2014 11:56

Grin Pootles!

TimeForAnotherNameChange · 09/10/2014 11:57

Let it go OP, let it go.

Grin

In all seriousness though, I hate the lazy habit of showing dvd's in class, full stop, disney, pixar, whichever doesn't bother me, I don't think they should be doing it at all except christmas week and last week of the summer term.

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 09/10/2014 11:57

I would be more annoyed that they were watching any tv at all in class however much I hate that film.

listsandbudgets · 09/10/2014 11:57

I'd be more concerned about the fact that they had nothing else for a reception class to do than watch a film. The fact it was Disney wouldn't bother me.

The songs are lovely though perhaps it was a music lesson :)

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/10/2014 11:57

Grin @ pootles!

OP your child will do lots of things over the years that arent allowed in your house. Or do you never intend to let him visit other people?

TeenAndTween · 09/10/2014 11:58

Sorry, I too think YABU.
A perfectly suitable film for Reception class, and he obviously enjoyed it.

LadyLuck10 · 09/10/2014 11:58

You don't do Disney? Wow would hate to be a child in your house. Your poor son is being punished for his mother being ridiculous.

Showy · 09/10/2014 11:58

I don't particularly like Disney. Or Hallowe'en. Or enforced praying. Or berol handwriting pens. Or a host of other things.

At school though, I just let it go.

Did you see what I did there, did ya?

ps - Was it at Wet Play? They have to find a way to corral children then, and a good film such as Frozen is a good way to do it with the minimal supervision they have at lunch.

Pipbin · 09/10/2014 11:59

Well next time they watch Disney you can just send your child to sit in the corridor and stare at the wall instead.

Jude76 · 09/10/2014 12:01

I just think there are so many better and more interesting things they could be doing. Seriously, it's the first term of school! Surely they haven't run out of fun ideas yet?

RiverTam · 09/10/2014 12:02

Frozen is a great film! Have you actually seen it - please don't be someone dismissing a film (or in the case, an entire studio's oeuvre) when you haven't actually watched it/them.

Twentythree9teen · 09/10/2014 12:02

Never mind "the songs are great", the film has a surprisingly subversive take on traditional gender roles. Of all the possible Disney films you could complain about, it's the least offensive. Have you yourself seen it?

Pipbin · 09/10/2014 12:03

I agree Jude, but that's not what you said in your OP.
