To think that having a dog is just a nuisance?

The kids wanted one, as did DH. Got a lovely Cavalier King Charles 6 months ago. He's well trained and very affectionate but I now find him the most annoying burdensome nuisance. Why would i want another dependent? He's lovely when he lies down at night on the sitting room floor but I could have bought a rug for that purpose.

Yanbu. I loved our dog at home growing up. But now as an adult it would just be one more task added to my daily list.

We have a baby gate up so our furry children can't run out the door. It's one that opens (rather than stepping over it) into our entryway/mudroom type deal and it's great :)

But no, don't find owning dogs a nuisance at all (except pooper scooping, but then they go less often than babies!)

I couldn't be without the love of a dog! My boys have all grown up respecting and loving animals. When our last dog died we lasted 2 weeks without getting another!

We had my dog put down two weeks ago, he had a fit caused by cancer, the vet said the fits would come back and be worse and they scared him. Oh my God I miss him so much it's total fucking agony, I had to get his ashes today.

He was pretty chilled out and never barked, he loved the children but in a sort of dutiful and mildly patronising way. I'm watching Breaking Bad right now and wish he was on the sofa next to me trying to get more space.

I do understand that they can be, like anyone, annoying sometimes - particularly when adolescent. But the most annoying thing they do is die and leave a massive, gaping, horrible hole.

Dicky bags are the answer to the plastic-bag-of-horror problems.
