To want a night in a hotel BY MYSELF

DS is 2.3 and has never once slept through the night. He always wakes for at the very least a couple of hours screaming the place down. I can either go to him and take him into bed with me where he proceeds to wriggle and kick or put up with it which I can't do. DD manages to sleep through it. DP helps when hes here but works away half the week meaning he gets 3-4 nights a week of lovely blissful sleep.

AIBU to book a night in a hotel when DP is here, check in as soon as they let me, bath and then sleep until breakfast?

Sometimes friends talk about their fantasy lives - they talk about cocktails on Barbados or cruises or marrying a billionaire and all I can think is that I'd like an undisturbed nights sleep.

I don't have children who don't sleep the dog thinks 5am every day is appropriate though and yet I still love doing this. Crappy TV or crappy film, room service with a glass bottle of wine, check in at 2pm on the nose or try to convince them for an early check in, room service breakfast, and check out a la Ross Geller at the very moment you absolutely have to. Preferably with a massage, mani-pedi and hair-do too if budget allows.

Same here, apart from the dog.

Now this is an amazing idea. I might want to stay away every night. Mine are 4 & 6. I think they've slept through maybe 5 nights in 6 1/2 years. It is very frustrating.

I just had two nights at a city YHA. Small clean room, amazing art deco wine serving lights up knitting session at a local cinema, went to a restaurant, read book, drank more wine. Bloomin loverly. Doesn't need to be expensive, Premier Inn guarantee a good night's sleep!!!

Yanbu - it was my ultimate fantasy when the dcs were small. A lovely airy room with white cotton bedding.
Do it Grin

Sad I let the side down. DH booked a hotel. I freaked at having to eat alone in the bar so went without. Got into bed at 3.15 to sleep and ended up crying Hmm. Dh spent the night at the hotel. I spent the night at home with the kids having stopped for fish and chips HmmGrin.

I had a two night break at a spa when ds was young and a hopeless sleeper. Like you, I fantasised about getting away, sleeping, relaxing.

Do it. It makes you function so so much better when you've recharged your batteries

I've done this a couple of times - best money ever spent.

Make sure your partner understands that you will not be back at 6am to deal with the morning routine Wink
Set expectations around 5pm and don't rush back.

itsfab I'm so sorry to hear that, how disappointing for you! Clearly you need more practice at this Wink
