To ask what the state of your bedding is like? and where is nice to get new stuff?

I am fed up of my bedding. I have three cheap cotton sets, not matching (but don't care about that) and every sodding month I seem to leak on my period so now it all looks very scruffy.

What is your bedding like? Do you chuck stuff if it gets stained, do you care or not? Also, how many sets do people tend to have?

I'm waiting for a tax repayment at the moment but then I really need some fresh new things, where is good to look? Tk Max maybe?

I've got some IKEA sets, some Argos ones and one from Debenhams.

The ikea ones are cotton and have worn ok, but don't have poppers at the bottom so the duvet 'prolapses' out of the bottom! The Argos ones are poly cotton, so some have bobbled a bit.

When I want a proper treat I put the Debenhams one on. For me it was pricey (about £50 compared to £20 ish for the others!) but I know you can easily spend a lot more than that. It just feels lovely and smooth, you can feel that it's good quality.

I imagine I'd love some proper posh bed linen but sadly not in a position to spend any more than £40 on a duvet cover at the moment.

As for stains, I must say I haven't ever had that problem on the top bedding, perhaps on the bottom sheet occasionally, but if it's a heavy time I just use tampon + towel and sometimes wear leggings to keep it all in place! Usually I find that I will wake up if it gets to a point where I need to change it in the night.

We have three pretty plain cream sets from M&S and House of Fraser, all bought in the sales.

Have a Jeff banks one on right now that still looks fab after years of bio washing (dark purple) and never needs ironing.

I have Soak&Sleep linen on my bed, we used to only have White Company (still have their amazing feather topper on the bed) but found S&S just as good and a fraction of the price. I tend to just get white everything nowadays to avoid confusion. DS has my old brushed cotton WC duvet cover though and I do curl up in his bed sometimes - he also has a double with a WC feather topper, which is unbelievably comfortable!
I do love bed!Grin

ikea
for blood stains soak in cold water + bio powder for a few hours first then wash as usual. use colour powder for darker colours.
I don't throw out for minor stains.

MrsCurrent my Jeff Banks set makes an appearance occasionally and its at least 10 years old. Lovely thick cotton.
My latest favourite is a TKMaxx find, that just caught my eye.

I used to get some linen from Next, but the quality has gone down. The current sets I have are from M&S and John Lewis. We have dark (reds and purples, mostly) bottom sheets - the naice extra deep ones from M&S, as we have a deep mattress plus a topper.

The sheets seem to last forever, but I donate of the duvet covers when I get bored of them or they look faded or a bit pilled (like the last set I had from Next)

ouryve · 04/10/2014 23:54

And you might want to look into absorbent bedmats if you leak a lot - Tena do some a bit bigger than the Pampers ones.

Pancakeflipper · 04/10/2014 23:58

Disappointed in my last John Lewis purchases. Had to return the duvet set for DS2 as it had a perfect button hole cut but in the middle of the duvet case.
Our set feels thin and waiting to rip.

But the TKMaxx is still going well and irons great.

I have one set, duvet and sheet are from Primark and the cover is from Poundstretcher.

The sheet and cover wash fine, I do it twice a month, and have everything washed, dried and back on the bed within a few hours.

The DC each have a couple of sets each from Asda and Primark and I wash theirs weekly.

alemci · 05/10/2014 09:10

salt for bloodstains and then not too hot wash i think.
e
dust sheets if all else fails.

i need deeper sheets, any recommendationsSmile

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/10/2014 09:53

Soak and Sleep do standard and deep fitted sheets

linky

20% off this weekend too (no, I don't work for them but always recommend them on these threads for great quality, price and customer service)

If you don't like white or cream, just dye them.

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/10/2014 09:57

Oh, link didn't work properly but 40cm deep king sized fitted sheet in white 200TC is £21.50

impatienceisavirtue · 05/10/2014 10:02

Next do deep fitted sheets as well

I have one set at a time. I can get it washed and dried in a day so it's not a big deal. I buy one nice set with all the matching bits (this one at the moment from next) and when it has reached the end of its life I replace it, no need for multiple sets for me

Nomama · 05/10/2014 10:11

Mmm! Next, Dunelm, BHS etc. I have looked and been disappointed / out of luck.

Maybe I should try again! I could dye them, that would be easy enough!

Thanks Smile
