to think you don't put unflattering photos of friends all over the internet?

A friend-acquaintance swung by ours during a holiday trip to visit new DC and took some photos. Lovely and all. Then they went and put a holiday album onto the web. DC looks smashing (of course! Grin); me, not so much. In fact, I look pretty awful.
Wouldn't you (a) check if it is okay to put pictures up first, and (b) really try to choose ones where the adult looks decent, and not like a poorly-baked pastry with lank hair? I would, and do.
I want to ask them to take them down, but am likely to sound all uppity about my 'looks' if I do. Hmm What's best practise here without sounding like I obviously already sound?

It's pretty standard practice for people to upload their photos after taking them so if it's a problem for you I think you could overcome it by bringing it up at the point of the photo being taken. My OH has an uncle who at a family event recently (where cameras were being pointed about a lot) said "you're not going to put those online are you?" That was all he said, no one felt at all put out or told off and everyone then knew how he felt about it.

awsomer, that's the best way. As the person is taking the photo, politely request that you don't mind ,but don't want it put on-line.

I've let it be known numerous times re not uploading and checking first. Some people, they just don't get it. Angry Of course, as pp pointed out, if they happen to have created an extremely flattering vision of you, I guess most of us would probably go 'okay, just this once'. Wink

Someone who knew my views on online pictures secretly took an unflattering picture of me with bird's-nest hair, stuffing my face with chips, and posted it on a forum we both used. Ha fucking ha, so hilarious. I was furious, but by the time I'd seen it so had everyone else, so I fumed silently, not wanting to add to her amusement. Looking back a few years on, I realise I still look about 500% better than the photographer does in other shots, so get that up ye, missus.
