I just realised my vegetable stock cubes aren't actualky suitable for vegetarians Confused.

I made a risotto with them last week and FIL had some. Should I tell him or keep quiet?

Keep quiet!

FaFoutis · 26/09/2014 19:53

Keep quiet. I'm vegetarian and I wouldn't want to know.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/09/2014 19:53

Nah, what's the point.

awsomer · 26/09/2014 19:53

Shhhh. What he doesn't know won't hurt him.

skylark2 · 26/09/2014 19:53

Keep quiet and get some which are suitable for next time.

If you'd said "half an hour ago" then I would say tell him in case there's a medical issue. But it's been a week.

ShatnersBassoon · 26/09/2014 19:53

Keep quiet. There's nothing to be gained from telling him.

bodhranbae · 26/09/2014 19:53

As a vegetarian myself I'd rather not know.

FurryTurnip · 26/09/2014 19:53

Don't say anything. I'm vegetarian and wouldn't want to know, there's nothing to be gained!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/09/2014 19:54

Keep quiet! Nothing to be gained from telling him imo.

phantomnamechanger · 26/09/2014 19:54

really?? it would never occur to me that vegetable stock cubes were not suitable!

I'd say nowt!

EnolaAlone · 26/09/2014 19:54

As a vegetarian I'd rather you didn't tell me.

Vinomcstephens · 26/09/2014 19:54

Absolutely, 100% keep schtum Smile I say this as a fellow veggie - what the heart doesn't know, the stomach doesn't grieve over and all that!

FrootLoopy · 26/09/2014 19:54

This is a secret you take to the grave.....

ArabellaTarantella · 26/09/2014 19:54

What's the point of telling him? It is loooooooong ago digested so there's nothing he can do. You will only cause him upset if you tell him (unless that's your intention?).

wellnowthenmardybum · 26/09/2014 19:55

What he doesn't know won't hurt himWink

Teeb · 26/09/2014 19:55

I wouldn't tell him either. On the scale of things he had a watered down bit of stock, it wasn't like you presented him with bacon butties.

No I really don't want to upset him. I just wondered if morally it was the right thing to do.

I'll take it to the grave then! :)

I'd rather not know.

And telling him with achieve nothing and help no one.

Innocent mistake. Move on.

Revenant · 26/09/2014 19:59

Nope. He'll never trust your cooking again if you tell him...

Teeb · 26/09/2014 19:59

alpaca maybe it's a form of gelatine or something like that.

picnicbasketcase · 26/09/2014 20:00

They contain actual meat? Or some kind of ingredient derived from animals? I'm sure it's all the same to a vegetarian but I would keep quiet anyway. It's not like you snuck some bacon into it.

phantomnamechanger · 26/09/2014 20:00

what brand? and what in them is not veggie?

Kleptronic · 26/09/2014 20:05

Yes I need to know this, what brand of vegetable stock cubes? I have vegetarians to feed!

Mind you I was astonished that they put meat in ice cream. That really threw me. I'm looking at you, Lidl.

Mmm ice cream! Now with pig!

Me624 · 26/09/2014 20:09

Another veggie here who agrees, definitely don't tell him. Whenever I eat outside of the home I operate a don't ask, don't tell policy - otherwise you wouldn't really be able to eat anywhere. I'm sure numerous friends and restaurants have fed me soups or risottos etc made with meat stock, or chopped stuff in my meal with the same knife they've chopped meat with ... I'd rather not know!
