Seventh wedding anniversary (altho we have been together 20 years and are v happy). I forgot completely. He bought me a slanket (it's a fleece blanket with sleeves). What does this say about us??

He's probably on dadsnet wondering what his dw forgetting their 7th anniversary 'says about us'. Grin

Littledidsheknow · 23/09/2014 10:44

I have never, ever, not once, ever received a gift or card for our anniversary. As in never.
A slanket sounds fab; and you got him nothing!
Sorry OP, YABU

(and are slankets any good?)

splodgeness · 23/09/2014 10:45

You are all making me laugh out load on the train Grin

Right, tonight I will be naked under that slanket!!

YANBU. I hate slankets. My best friend got us a Siamese slanket for a wedding present. I was like Confused

Ludways · 23/09/2014 10:49

I love my slanket, we have about 10 in our house. The first one was the one I bought dh for Christmas (along with other things), I love him to pieces and fancy the arse off him.

I'd rather have a slanket than boring no thought required flowers.

My hubby and I have been together for 15 years, married for 8. The only wedding anniversary I've received gifts for were our first - when he bought me a pack of shopping jotter pads from Morrisons - and our 6th - when he bought me a cheese knife from Sainsburys. I've always bought him thoughtful presents each and every year. My DH is the most utterly useless present (and card) buyer I know though. Makes me feel insanely jealous a little hard done by when my friends tell me what their husbands bought them, or did for them for their birthdays or Christmas.

I think the most memorable present my hubby ever presented me with was on my 22nd birthday (we met when I was 21 so it was his first time giving me a birthday gift). We were living in a house share at the time and his thoughtful present to me was... an egg poaching pan and a set of wooden spatulas. I almost burst into tears there and then. Reminded me of that scene in Father of the Bride, when the daughter almost calls off the wedding because her fiance bought her a blender!!

Fond memories of the time my mum unwrapped a mahooooosive box from my dad on their silver wedding. The look on her face when she saw it was a washing machine!! My dad let her rant for 5 mins 'is that all you see me as? A bloody domestic servant?!...etc' then he opened the top and out floated a balloon with tickets to the theatre attached and there was a gorgeous bunch of flowers inside :)

Turned out his mate had bought a new washer and he thought it would be hilarious... :)
To be fair once my mum had calmed down and seen her real presents she did laugh, an has told everyone the story :)

WhatWouldBlairWaldorfDo · 23/09/2014 11:29

Ps. I would love a slanket...... Dp hates them... Slightly jealous right now!

MrsBungle · 23/09/2014 11:32

I have to say I don't much like my slanket! I prefer a nice cosy blanket.

squoosh · 23/09/2014 11:32

Buy him a slanket too. Then you can pretend you're wizards and have sexy slanket fun.

PlaydoughGirl · 23/09/2014 11:32

I'd be thrilled, especially at this time of year.

minipie · 23/09/2014 11:39

Wedding anniversary gifts?

We've been married for 5 years. Together for 14 years. We have each forgotten our wedding anniversary at least 3 times. Luckily it's usually been the same year.

I think it says you feel very comfortable with each other Grin well hopefully as we are the same!

WutheringFrights · 23/09/2014 12:04

My DH bought me a bright pink slanket when we were on our honeymoon. To be fair we were in our campervan, in Scotland, in November....he was so chuffed with himself.
It was so cosy I wore it every night, not exactly sexy but seeing that I was already 6 weeks pregnant the honeymoon nookie was non existent!

Grin that's brilliant!

londonrach · 23/09/2014 12:23

People buy each other wedding anniversary pressies....thats a new one. Luckily if we remember and the same with my sister, bil and my parents...

Writerwannabe83 · 23/09/2014 14:14

Me and DH didn't even get each other cards and presents for our first wedding anniversary - I just don't see the point in it really.

FWIW - he had bought me a slanket in the past and I was soooo grateful. I loved being cosy!!

My mum and dad celebrated 29 years in March and she bought him a Hugo Boss watch, a gorgeous shirt and his favourite sweets. He bought her a cactus for her desk at work. A CACTUS. I was howling with laughter. Poor mum Grin

KnackeredMuchly · 23/09/2014 14:19

For my first wedding anniversary my husband bought me the Final Destination boxset.

I do not like horror films.

He got offended when I made it clear it was a shit present

I still get rage just thinking about it!!!!!

hellsbellsmelons · 23/09/2014 14:25

Oh OP that made me LOL.

Reminds me of when I was younger and all my mum wanted was a dishwasher. She made it very clear what she wanted.
So the morning of Christmas my dad tells her that her present is downstairs.
She is sooo thrilled. Until she walked into the dining to see an exercise bike instead of a dishwasher.
My dad doesn't make mistakes like that any more!! Grin

mrsmilkymoo · 23/09/2014 14:27

I got a slanket last Christmas from dh and loved it! For our last wedding anniversary he bought a gift for our then unborn dd (I was about five months pregnant at the time).

cathpip · 23/09/2014 14:37

The two most memorable anniversary gifts I have had are Ironman on DVD and a jewel shaped ice cube tray (was weaning dc1 at time so had 6 ice cube trays already!). I now have a practiced that's lovely face and then go shopping and buy myself something nice with his credit card :)

kentishgirl · 23/09/2014 14:51

'a Siamese slanket' - if that's what I think it is, I want one!

Worst present was a dishwasher for birthday. From ex. Yes, that was how he saw me.
