Because this means that I am now considered to be an old fart Sad Angry. I am not! I am young (as long as I keep my roots up)! I am hip (although I have no idea what on earth 'young people' are on about these days)! I still wear skinny jeans!!!

AAAGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I take not being ID's for alcohol purchases as an insult!

I actually tell them they are being rude when they click 'Clearly looks over 25'.

cardamomginger · 22/09/2014 10:10

That too! Last time I was carded in the US, I nearly kissed the bar man!

mamma I totally agree. They always just tick their bloody screen with me. Cheeky bastards.

MrsBungle · 22/09/2014 10:11

I've not been id'd in years :(

cardamomginger · 22/09/2014 10:13

MrsBungle - me neither. But it is a memory I hold close and cherish.

Grin me too and I still hold out hope of the checkout operator asking me for my passport or a bouncer in a pub asking me to step to the side...

DrewOB · 22/09/2014 10:28

I got IDed in HMV not long ago buying a DVD :D (I'm 28)
I'd use the free check-up as a way to discuss all the secret hypocondriac qualms in my head hehe :D

cardamomginger · 22/09/2014 10:30

I want bouncers to wave me to the front of the queue and let me go in for free, because that means they consider me to be hot totty and the sort of person they want gracing their establishment.

Good one Drew.

I declined mine on the grounds that over the last 4 years I have had a huge amount of medical treatment and investigation involving consultants from 6 different specialities. I have been scanned, poked, prodded, tested and diced and sliced into oblivion. So I reckon anything would have shown up! In all other respects I have a very healthy lifestyle (even though I've just made it sound as if I am at death's door!).

And that carda those days are long gone too for me!

I remember the exact point I realised. I was with my friends in a bar and a group of gorgeous young women came in and I suddenly realised that I USED to be them! ShockGrin

They came in and stood gracefully looking cool. We had come in and immediately looked for a seat and moaned about the lack of wine list!

Thomyorke · 22/09/2014 10:44

A young man offered me his seat and called me a lady, should of been happy but just felt an old hag.

cardamomginger · 22/09/2014 10:54

And when they direct you to anti-ageing products at the beauty/make-up counter. Bastards.

I received a leaflet about a new "assisted living" complex the other day.
Complete and utter bastards.
Dh and dc thought it was hilarious though Confused Grin

TheLovelyBoots · 22/09/2014 11:23

Oh yes, I got one when I turned 40. The upside is that when I went to review my results with the surgery nurse, she kept on referring to how young I was (blush) because she deals with the over-40's.

fatlazymummy · 22/09/2014 12:13

I've never been ID'ed. When I was a teenager (in the 70's ) no one bothered about things like that or cared about underage drinking and smoking. By the time it all became official (the 90's I suppose) I was obviously over 18.
I do like health checks though, it's nice to know I'm healthy. It actually makes me feel good about my age.

FryOneFatManic · 22/09/2014 12:54

My local surgery was offering health checks to people as part of a trial scheme.

Idea being that people who haven't been in for anything in ages but who were in the 40+ age group might have some underlying issue not yet detected.

I took advantage and nothing came up, apart from an advisory note about being overweight with a family history of heart disease. Blood sugar fine, Cholesterol fine, blood pressure absolutely fine.

I'm the fat one in the family, yet it's skinny DP, who is 50+, who now has sky high blood pressure.

Gruntfuttock · 22/09/2014 12:57

I've never been ID'd either. Just as well, as I've no idea what I could have shown back in the olden days. I certainly didn't have a passport until I was much older and have never had a driving licence. A birth certificate wouldn't have been much good if they wanted photo ID.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 22/09/2014 18:15

nope never any ID checks for me Sad and no invite for a health check yet. But allow me a stealth boast.... I recently lost a shed load of weight and am dressing better younger went out on sat with DH and he said ' blimey you look nice, you look YOUNGER' yay, Ds2 'oh mum you look -something unintelligible and meaningless unless you are 18 nice, Ds2 'blimey mother, you look good. I was Smile then the icing on the cake was at the petrol station as DH was filling up the car a rather nice young man younger than me at least-- glanced at me as he went to pay, smiled as he came out then slowed as he passed in his car on the way out and blew me a kiss ... I practically squealed with joy, i know, i know its so uncool to be pleased about unwarranted male attention but I felt young again, had a smile all night DH was 'you still got it love' so despite being 52 I can say I do scrub up well

hiddenhome · 22/09/2014 18:30

I am annoyed because I have been told I have to see a nurse for a health check as part of registering with a new GP surgery Hmm

I'm not a bloody child who needs weighing and measuring whilst having to sit there tolerating lectures about drinking and smoking (neither if which I do anyway) Angry

Mrsdavidcaruso · 22/09/2014 18:52

hiddenhome er no you don't you have the right to refuse any examination, I registered with my new GP told them I didn't have time for health check and never went back for one, I know how bloody tall I am I don't need them to measure me ffs and I am quite willing and able to weigh my self on my own thank you very much.

Mrsdavidcaruso · 22/09/2014 18:57

hiddenhome this is what the NHS website says

Health checks
When you register with a new GP surgery, you'll be invited to make an appointment for a health check within six months.

So you don't have to have one, they can only 'invite' you to have one not insist you have one and you can wait up to six months not at the time you register

PicandMinx · 22/09/2014 19:17

You are offered a health check if you are a new patient. Feel free to decline, unless you want to be fat shamed and bullied into a smear test (quote from a patient last week) Grin

cardamomginger · 22/09/2014 22:01

Well done stepaway!!!
