To want dcs to be quiet in the evening?

furcoatbigknickers · 21/09/2014 21:00

My nerves are completly frazzled. I am sahm to 4 dcs, 12,9, 5 and nearly 2.

During the school holidays and at weekends we more iften than not let the dcs stay up (nr 2 year old stays up anyway) The rules are, sit quietly and watch tv or go and play jn the other room. Dcs just don't seem able to do it. Constantly talking, asking for things, making demands, winding little one up, arguing etc.

Im seriously considering sending them all (except little one) up at school night times. I let dd1 and 2 watch x factor, dd2 was really looking forward to it. All they dud was talk through it and wind baby up. I sent them to bed, they stomped off.

Now I feel shit and totally wrung out.

No I'm with you.

Unfortunately kids seem to hit the ground running and just stop when they go to bed rather than wind down. It's us that gets tired.

furcoatbigknickers · 21/09/2014 21:07

Thats true gamer dreading it when they are teens and can't be sent to bef before us. I will hide in my room.

Mine always had to go to their rooms at 9pm, even as teenagers. If they were in the house they went to their rooms. They didn't have to go to sleep, but they had to give me and DH some peace. They had their own TVs etc. so they could occupy themselves.

gamerchick · 21/09/2014 21:35

In that sense teenagers are a lot better. Mine always buggers off to his room at around 9 anyway.

Teens is when you get your own back with early wakings. Grin

BuilderMammy · 21/09/2014 21:52

My mother got a TV for her bedroom and used to retreat there at 7pm every night. I thought it was terribly antisocial back then but I'm starting to see the light...

Aren't they tired being up late? Esp the 2 year old?

I'd put them to bed early!

furcoatbigknickers · 21/09/2014 22:17

No, only the 12 year old 9 were staying up to watch x factor and that ends at 9. Dd1's bedtime is 9 and dd2's is 850.

The five year old is in bed by 8 normally.

They only stay up when there is no school.

My little one doesnt wake until 8 ish and most days has at least 2 hour nap.

Bedtime is always the same here unless special occasion. I would certainly take younger two to bed at their regular time.

furcoatbigknickers · 21/09/2014 22:21

The youngest falls asleep downstair with us every night or goes to sleep when we go up.

furcoatbigknickers · 21/09/2014 22:21

The little one isnt really an issue.

Nerf · 21/09/2014 22:26

I hear you! Four here and I am driven insane in the evenings. Downstairs to watch a film or Dr Who and half of them start shinnying around, if I send them to bed they fight, moan, come up and down stairs, and I resort to shouting loudly. I am soooo sick of chatty, shinny, moany children.
No idea OP. It doesn't get better Grin

furcoatbigknickers · 21/09/2014 22:29

Oh nerf I'm glad its not just my lot. I may have to drink more wine. Shock
