Evening all!

OP posts:
squoosh · 19/09/2014 01:33

46% Yes 54% No

Much like the opinion polls.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 19/09/2014 01:33

Poor Huw. Nothing like making a glaring error on national tv, esp on the first result.

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 01:34

I'm scared to go to bed now.

Toadinthehole · 19/09/2014 01:34

Last I heard Glasgow was likely to be 54% YES, however that won't be enough to determine the referendum in YES's favour.

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 01:35

aga I hope you are right but with Edinburgh and Glasgow to come still I can't get too excited.

Is Clakmannanshire it like one of those key swing states in the US elections which although small are significant in gauging the temperatures?

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/09/2014 01:35

Who's going to be next? I'm relying on you because I've just got the internet, no live TV.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 19/09/2014 01:35

I wonder why they haven't mentioned Dundee on BBC2?

I bet Kay is flapping about it on Sky!

tadjennyp · 19/09/2014 01:35

Huw Edward's coverage on C-Span3 for viewers in the US!

AmIthatHot · 19/09/2014 01:35

Just visiting thus thread. I'm off to bed but was cheered by that first result.

Have a good night everyone

squoosh · 19/09/2014 01:36

I can't stand Lesley Riddoch. Really, really can't stand.

AgaPanthers · 19/09/2014 01:36

Clackmannanshire's not supposed to be a 'swing state', it's more of a 'Portillo moment' as in No weren't supposed to have a chance here.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 19/09/2014 01:36

Maybe we need a separate thread to discuss such flippant things as candy floss hair?

OOAOML · 19/09/2014 01:37

Pat Kane next to David Coburn??

GrouchyKiwi · 19/09/2014 01:37

Changing channel every time Lesley Riddoch shows up.

squoosh · 19/09/2014 01:37

Orkney is next.

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 01:37

I feel very emotional watching the size of the turnout in places as far as Shetland. Just how it means so much to us all regardless of which way you vote. It's really quite extraordinary.

Who's this annoying blonde woman who sounds rather bitter.

flippinada · 19/09/2014 01:37

I don't know MrsTP

I think barometer 'counties' are East Lothian and Fife. But others may correct me.

SlowlorisIncognito · 19/09/2014 01:38

I think Clackmannanshire is semi significant as it was predicted to vote for yes, rather than no, but it is also tiny, so we can't draw major conclusions from it.

Why was it decided to have voting/counting areas that are so disparate in size?

flippinada · 19/09/2014 01:38

Mildothian turnout 87%. That's my area.

SlowlorisIncognito · 19/09/2014 01:39

MrsTP Likely to be Orkney I think.

Also suggestion that West Lothian has gone for No.

AgaPanthers · 19/09/2014 01:39

weaselly 'Yes' man is trying to spin it as a definitive vote for 'Devo Max'. Before they've even officially lost.

Toadinthehole · 19/09/2014 01:39

Orkney is predicted to be a comfortable no.

trixymalixy · 19/09/2014 01:39

East Lothian rumoured to have voted No.

MeDented · 19/09/2014 01:39

Silly question, how does this work, does No get 1 county vote now and they add up the counties or do the total individual votes get added together to 2 big totals for Yes and No?

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 19/09/2014 01:39

Toad that'll depend on what the margin is when it comes to Glasgow declaring their result. 8 points in Clackmannanshire is tiny in comparison to 8 points in Glasgow. It might not be as close as we all thought it was going to be, but if it is, that margin in Glasgow can still be significant. It's hard to say with just one, v small, result, that it's a shoe in.

I think it'll be no in the end, but I'm not certain and won't be until the big areas declare.
