I am bracing myself for a barrage of hate...
...but, will any one else be glad when it's over?!

And no, I'm not from Scotland.

OP posts:
LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 12:24

And I hope that this inspires England to get together and demand a parliament and fair representation.

paddlenorapaddle · 18/09/2014 12:26

Passion is one thing

But what's happening the bile and hatred and the sweeping generalisations that isn't democracy

I for one will be glad when it's over either way

Shenanagins · 18/09/2014 12:29

Yanbu. I am Scottish, live in Scotland and voted this morning.

The whole thing has made me very sad about the country I was once proud. I have seen and read the division it has caused showing a nasty underbelly of narrow minded bigots on both sides.

Because the result will be so close, I think it will be difficult to move on from very quickly.

I understand the comment about wanting to come on here and enjoy cake as this is also somewhere I used to come to for some fun/advice but it is hard to do so when your life is about to be turned upside down whatever happens.

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 12:29

Words can't describe how upset I am at reading of some of the abuse Andy Murray is getting on twitter for supporting yes..... Including a charming individual stating he wished Andy had died at Dunblane. Wonder if that will get reported!

OwlCapone · 18/09/2014 12:31

Get involved.

And just how does one get involved in something one has no say in?

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 12:33

Fanjo Oh, fair enough then, in that light - not harsh at all :) Cake Brew

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 12:35

Owl was that aimed at me? After the referendum results are out we are either going to be negotiating HOW the UK can work better or HOW the split is done. We need to make ourselves heard.

rainbowinmyroom · 18/09/2014 12:36

You don't have long to wait.

noddyholder · 18/09/2014 12:38

We do need to be more involved in how our country is run all round. Everything is too focussed on London and what goes on there and so many of those running the country have no idea what its like to struggle. They pay lip service to social issues and then swan off on luxury holidays etc while we have people queueing at foodbanks. Something has gone badly wrong and this is a start of an ongoing sea of change I think.

noddyholder · 18/09/2014 12:40

Its a bit of a bad show when Andy Murray who is scottish has his say and there is a backlash but people are all ears for David Beckham?!?!?!

FergusSingsTheBlues · 18/09/2014 12:41

Most people I know have been losing sleep over this. It's not as cut and dried as it seems. Well all feel better tomorrow because at least we'll know the score.

It's a huge decision, and I'm amazed anybody would complain about this being on the news all the time!

Good luck with DC 'shutting down' ISIL

starfishmummy · 18/09/2014 12:46

Yes I am fed up with it and no dount the post election stuff will go on and on whatever the result.

I am interested in the outcome and the hard facts about how it will ultimately affect us all. As I don't have a say in this all the debate and speculation is turned off!

Brightbutchilly · 18/09/2014 12:47

I'm sorry we're boring you OP we'll do our best to get out of your hair shortly.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 18/09/2014 12:50

Oh, are we BORING you all? So sorry!

Think this thread shows why we should go for independence...seemingly the rUK already thinks we're irrelevant.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 12:51

OP Barrage of hate? From whom? Where? And why?

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 12:54

Oh right now Scotland deciding it's future is a distraction from what really matters to the UK?? Really. God roll on a yes vote.

ArsenicFaceCream · 18/09/2014 12:55

It's a huge decision, and I'm amazed anybody would complain about this being on the news all the time!

It's like exam results, Fergus I just want to fast forward to the important bit.

The news reports of burnt posters and skermishes is worrying, the coverage of yet more speeches is getting repetitive. I just want to know the RESULT. This is huge. The ramifications are going to be beyond anything that has been imagined south of the border.

combust22 · 18/09/2014 12:55

Fergus-

"Think this thread shows why we should go for independence...seemingly the rUK already thinks we're irrelevant."

I totally agree.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 12:55

And here was me thinking we were part of the UK.

happybubblebrain · 18/09/2014 13:02

I've actually enjoyed all the political debates and I've really enjoyed hearing people criticise our present government. I think it's a very good thing that people have a real say instead of being dictated to.

I think the result will be close, it will probably be no because of the fear factor, but I hope it is yes.

noddyholder · 18/09/2014 13:14

Me too

MehsMum · 18/09/2014 13:52

'No hate here, just a bit sad people don't appreciate the significance of this and think their tea and cake is more important.'
Oh, Fanjo, reading your later posts, I think that was aimed at me! How sweet of you!

I really know this vote matters: I even said so in my post, though perhaps through gritted teeth. It matters not only to the Scots but to the rest of the UK.

However, I have no vote, and I also get pissed off with comments like 'your wars' made by a pp (no input from Messrs Blair and Brown, then? Weren't they, er, um, from Scotland?) In addition, I'm fed up with the misinformation and I don't know who to believe.

I'm not bored because the referendum is on the news every day. It's important, so fair enough. But I am bored with the way it's on the news all the time. So I have missed the lunchtime news and have enjoyed my tea and cake.

daisychain01 · 18/09/2014 14:19

Hey, if it's a yes we will be able to change the clocks to whatever time we like without Scottish farmers having a moan. Lovely light evenings.
