Friffing Organix Carrot Sticks have ruined my baby clothes!

DD2 is quite small and doing blw. I usually strip her right down when she smears food all over herself eats, but we were out all day the other day so I settled for a big over the head bib AND a muslin wrapped round her underneath.
For convenience, she had some of these carrot sticks, which are a bit like giant wotsits, at lunch and later on the train. despite the layers she still got goop on her clothes.
I came straight home and put them in a wash with some of my usual stain remover.
THE FECKING STUFF WON'T COME OUT!
They were two of her nicest baby grows, both gifts, and I'm gutted!
My dm has tried everything she can think of but the clothes are still ruined.
When I looked at the packet to see what horror ingredient might be capable of doing this, it says in teeny little letters, right at the bottom, "may cause staining."
Now I'm probably I'm being unreasonable, but surely you shouldn't HAVE to feed your child naked or wrap them in a bin liner, gaffer taped at the neck in order to feed them a fecking carrot flavoured puff!!

The key to getting out orange and red stains caused by food is washing up liquid mixed with sugar to make a paste (I find fairy original to be best, and double check that it does not state "not suitable for use on clothes" on the bottle of washing up liquid you chose). Rub the paste in to the stain in circular motions. Bung in for your usual wash. Then hang them to dry out side in bright direct sunlight.
Those things are the way I saved a lot of clothes from curry stains, salsa, baby food jars, baby snacks etc.
Does not work on school red paint though...

SaggyAndLucy · 15/09/2014 16:37

Ooh ill try that.
I'm bloody gutted! We don't have much stuff that isbt second hand and these were both new!

I would send the clothes back to the good people of Goodies and ask for a replacement or at the very least a huge warning on the packs 'these WILL indelibly stain'.

I'm amazed these still stain so badly. DS used to eat these when he was little.

MrsSpencerReid · 15/09/2014 16:41

Sun is good for getting out stains, doesn't have to be a summers day, if it's wet out put in the window

AWhistlingWoman · 15/09/2014 16:43

If it is a 'kill or cure' situation I sometimes use a paste of Dr Beckmann's Stain Devil Powder for tea and red wine! I use it mixed with a very little water and pop it straight on the stain and find it good for taking out orange baby food stains. BUT it has been known to bleach the clothes as well if you leave it too long thus I only use it when all other methods have failed me!

I've never tried Littleprincess' method though. Sounds like it might be a bit gentler and cheaper. I'm now going to go and hunt for a stain to attempt to take out with it now!

Bright direct sunlight works wonders too - if you can come by any!

KnackeredMuchly · 15/09/2014 16:45

Overnight cold soak in Napisan, hot wash in biological washing powder, leave out in the sun for a day or two

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 15/09/2014 16:47

Yep completely agree with the sunlight theory. Its worked wonders here. Some stuff has been out for a few days but its amazing and bloody works.

QueenTilly · 15/09/2014 16:51

Yep, Organix snacks, DaliVit vitamin drops and pepper juice are the hardest stains to remove.

I recommend Ecover stain remover, Dr Beckmann Glowhite, and sunlight. In that order.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 15/09/2014 16:53

I got some old washed in blood stains out of Ds's teeshirt that he brought home with him after a summer abroad by spraying with sugar soap and rubbing in. I had nothing else in at the time and thought I would give it a go and lo and behold it worked!

ilovepowerhoop · 15/09/2014 17:26

I use washing up liquid rubbed into the stain (I dont add sugar) and recently got bolognese stains out of dd's dress using one of those vanish stains sticks you rub on. (sort of like a bar of soap)

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 15/09/2014 18:00

I add sugar as it helps sort of scrub the stain out a bit.
I have only known it not work once on a food stain. I ended up using Dylon stain remover, but even that took 4 goes, and faided the t-shirt. I never did find out what DS had on him that was almost impossible to get off!
But as I say I have had success removing curry, salsa, tomato food stains, baby food stains, bolagnaise sauce, chilli sauce... basically I have 2 messy eaters in this house and washing up liquid and sugar are my saviours.

So does anyone know how to get this red school paint out of DS white school polo shirt? Or am I going to have to bin it? TIA

OwlCapone · 15/09/2014 18:06

Another vote for sunshine.

NotMrsTumble · 15/09/2014 18:06

If it's a white item and it's kill or cure, try bleach on the stain, then wash with no soap, then ask again with bio wash. I've had success at getting most things out of dcs rip off £10 school polo shirts with embroidered logos (& somehow the logo doesn't fade)

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 15/09/2014 18:10

Thanks NotMrsTumble I will give it a go. No logo to worry about, it's just a cheapo store one, just hate to bin things when they are brand new. He wore it just once when his class mate decided he made a lovely blank canvas.

I agree with sunlight. It's amazing what it can do.

NotMrsTumble · 15/09/2014 18:13

Ask? Wash...

SaggyAndLucy · 15/09/2014 18:23

well I've put some neat fairy on them and given them a scrub. they're now soaking in some warm water.
I'll give them one last wash and put them on the line to bleach.
I have also written a stinky email to Organix.
I don't expect much of a reply but it made me feel better! Confused

If they have tumeric then there's little hope I'm afraid.

Sunlight will help but tumeric never washes out (a messy cook speaks).

ilovepowerhoop · 15/09/2014 18:43

its carrot powder rather than turmeric

bananaleaf · 15/09/2014 18:46

Argh I had this. Is why we reverted to plain rice cakes!

QueenofKelsingra · 15/09/2014 18:49

get some swarfega (the green gloop for getting oil off your hands) I am yet to find a stain it cant get out. smear it on the stain and pop in the wash as normal. then line dry if possible. will take a couple of washes to remove the smell of the swarfega though.

nicename · 15/09/2014 18:51

They are just so... Orange! I assumed tumeric!

We also reverted to ricecakes. Kids like oompa loompas is not good.

TiffanyToothache · 15/09/2014 19:08

If you leave it on a window sill for a few days, facing the sun, that will bleach food stains out nicely. No effort required Smile

ginzillas · 15/09/2014 19:10

They are a nightmare! I don't allow DD to go anywhere near these I'm nice clothes. Only advice I can offer is douse them in Vanish and hope for the best.
