to believe there MUST be a reasonably priced conditioner that doesn't smell of loo cleaner?

I bought the cheap as chips Ultimate Blends and it smells of Harpic. I've bought Elvive sulphate-free stuff that smells like a tart's boudoir. I've bought hand-crafted from Martian pearls by elves Aveda expensive stuff and it leaves my hair like straw. Is there a decent, mid-price conditioner that smells lovely and deals with my fine-but-masses-of-it hair?

Another Alberto Balsam nomination! I have thick, dry and relatively long wavy hair. Their coconut conditioner is the best I've ever found. Smells yum, but not too strong. It is often on offer at Tesco. Currently four bottles for £3 I think! Smile

Ruralninja · 15/09/2014 23:05

Right, Alberto Balsam it is!

Aussie moist. It's fab

Bouttimeforwine · 15/09/2014 23:18

Alberto balsam too - the pink one. It's better than all the expensive ones I've tried and keeps my naturally dyed blonde hair, silky soft.

Ruralninja · 15/09/2014 23:36

Yes mine is also naturally blonde....Blush Blush

If your hair is dry or frizzy, you can use conditioner to wash it instead of shampoo.

Ruralninja · 16/09/2014 08:39

no shampoo at all, or just the opposite way round, conditioner then shampoo?

Another fan of Aussie here, I use miracle recharge 'shine' leave-in spray.
It's expensive but it lasts for ages .

SquinkiesRule · 16/09/2014 10:08

No shampoo at all here, I like the cheap Asda coconut conditioner, 59p and then I use something thicker like Pantene or Dove therapy one. Then a bit of pure coconut oil pulled through the ends while wet.

Ruralninja · 16/09/2014 10:49

squinkies is it the same principle as OCM?

When my hair was really dry I used conditioner, no shampoo at all, it really helped. www.miracletherapy.com/

JamaicanMeCrazy · 16/09/2014 17:46

I buy the argan one in the green tube from home bargains for 89p and it's amazing. I've tried all the high end ones and keep going back to it.

I always use Pantene Aqua light or hair repair, I have fine hair but loads, it does the trick, smooths my hair without leaving any residue etc

Branleuse · 16/09/2014 17:54

i hate the smell of anything by aussie.

When I go over to france, I bring back loads of dop shampoo. I like the 3 in one for afro hair. I dont have afro hair, but it tames my overprocessed hair really nicely.

I also really really like yves rocher bouncy curls shampoo and conditioner

What is OCM Ruralninja?

code · 16/09/2014 20:47

I like a nice herby scent. Kevin murphy do some nice ones. I second bring back Vidal Sassoon.

Ruralninja · 16/09/2014 20:50

oil cleansing method - where you cleanse your face with oil/balm and a hot cloth - oil dissolves oil etc.

Aldi's stuff is great...smells fresh works well and isnt tested on animals. A win all round.

musicalendorphins2 · 17/09/2014 05:11

I guess it is, my hair is soft and silky when I only use conditio0ner to clean it. I use the serum and mousse as well.

beachywaves · 17/09/2014 07:51

Petitgrain - you have brought back happy memories of Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner. It was absolutely my favourite stuff and made my hair like silk. This is probably why I like Method Wood Polish - similar smell. (not on my hair though).

Petitgrain · 17/09/2014 14:55

Ooh I've got some of that, I forgot about it. Will use it today and be transported. Yes the Vidal Sassoon made my hair very silky too, which didn't work for me at all, as I sported what I thought was a rock chick look simon le Bon on a bad day.
