to believe there MUST be a reasonably priced conditioner that doesn't smell of loo cleaner?

I bought the cheap as chips Ultimate Blends and it smells of Harpic. I've bought Elvive sulphate-free stuff that smells like a tart's boudoir. I've bought hand-crafted from Martian pearls by elves Aveda expensive stuff and it leaves my hair like straw. Is there a decent, mid-price conditioner that smells lovely and deals with my fine-but-masses-of-it hair?

Funny how so many of you love the Aussie stuff. I can't bear any of the range as I think it smells so sickly sweet and too strongly. Like cheap bubblegum!

The Treseme ones don't smell of Harpic. Or Pantene?

DefinitleySpeltWrong · 15/09/2014 20:53

Tesco cheapie coconut.

Trills · 15/09/2014 20:55

Are you sure you aren't pregnant?

Apparently it can alter your perception of smells.

Marmiteandjamislush · 15/09/2014 21:15

I like this and I think cheap for sls free and no evil L'oreal

Littlefish · 15/09/2014 21:16

I use Normal Person's Conditioner. It's absolutely lovely. Not cheap at £11+ a bottle. My sister bought me some for my birthday and I love it so much that I'm going to buy some more.

Rainbunny · 15/09/2014 21:18

Agree about Aveda. Every product I have ever purchased from them has been disappointing. They must have great advertising as they keep sucking me in every now and then.

tshirtsuntan · 15/09/2014 21:20

petitgrain the nearest smell to the old Vidal Sassoon is loreal kids cherry almond flavour Smile

CombineBananaFister · 15/09/2014 21:37

Sainsburys do a range which is free from parabens etc and it's marshmallow or rosemary/mint or orange/pomegranite. They're 2 bottles for a fiver, pretty good too.

SuperFox · 15/09/2014 21:37

I like Aussie 3 min miracle reconstructor, smells like bubblegumand works great, 3 for a tenner

Ruralninja · 15/09/2014 22:01

wow so many good suggestions, thanks! I will probably print this thread out and put my nose in a few bottles next time I'm in Boots.... THisvehicle, I can't see what brand that range is??

Love the look of the normal person's conditioner - I am a normal person I think! Also agree about the Aussie Bubblegum Issue (ABI). Will also check out the Sainsbos one....

I'm sure the Aussie moist used to be....moister. Doesn't cut it these days.

The Aveda Shampure smells lovely - herby and clean and is a good shampoo. But I'm gutted I forked out for the conditioner thinking it would be good - still smells lovely but honestly it was the same as if I had used no conditioner at all. Completely terrible for the price.

Happy hair days Argan oil one is great, I like simple conditioner too as it smells of geraniums. Naked range smell lovely but too mild for me.
Like Aussie but it is a bit bubblegummy. Anyone try the recent Aldi special Aussie type one?

MiddleAgeMiddleEngland · 15/09/2014 22:12

Alberto Balsam raspberry shampoo and conditioner here.

A friend of mine uses the Aussie one and I really don't like the smell. But each to their own ....

Ruralninja · 15/09/2014 22:14

No no no AnnaBegins! The Happy Hair Argan one smell is TERRIBLE! Too strong (confession, I may be a very dextrous bloodhound typing here....) too strong smells make me feel queasy and I really wanted to like that one. Maybe I should try the Simple one. I'm not pg, but it's fair to say my sense of smell has never returned to normal parameters since being so....

Alberto Balsam clearly edging it in this poll...

Pantene smells nice. Boots own coconut smells good and works and is cheap.

picnicbasketcase · 15/09/2014 22:20

Alberto Balsam honey and almond intensive conditioner in a tube smells lovely and is a pound. Aussie Mega Instant conditioner is my favourite but I think it's rather expensive.

TooOldForGlitter · 15/09/2014 22:27

I use tea tree shampoo and conditioner from Aldi. It spells exactly like After Eight mints.

TooOldForGlitter · 15/09/2014 22:27

Or rather, smells like After Eight mints....

It's the Argan oil range sold in Poundland and B & Ms. It smells lovely and is so cheap.

AnnaBegins · 15/09/2014 22:33

Ninja you clearly are a bloodhound then :) I like conditioners to smell of something nice and rich though, lulls me into thinking they are doing something!

carlywurly · 15/09/2014 22:43

Aussie made my hair sticky and itchy.

I love herbal essences for a cheapy, and have a pricier but massive Argan oil one from tk maxx which is just lovely.

Ruralninja · 15/09/2014 22:44

Bigdorrit when you say the Sainsbos does the job, does it? Or do you need to use tons of it?
