I'm so depressed about my weight gain in the last year. I was a prebaby size 12 and now I'm post baby size 16. None of my clothes fit. Can't afford new ones.

I did start cycling but the thing is I have pretty severe hyper mobility. My left knee is pretty much in constant pain. Its affecting most of my joints now. I do stretches and some light yoga to help with the joint pain (suggested by doctor).

What the heck am I meant to do? I don't want to starve myself with salad. I want to be FIT not just slim. I'm getting rather despondant about it.

Am I missing some exercise I should be doing?

I don't over eat grockle - I eat 3 small meals a day of varied things. I just don't want to eat leaves for a year is all

Sorry but that's clearly bullshit. You won't have ballooned without eating too much!

Keep a food diary (and an accurate one) for a bit. Remember to include any drinks etc as well

Hi OP I'm hpermobile and have arthritis and also have a supposedly underweight BMI. Ive had three children, though not that recently! Not trying to have a go - just wanted to reassure you that someone in your medical position can definitely be slim (or even allegedly too thin!). I am teetotal which I guess saves on calories a bit as you've noted!

I'm in a wheelchair so I understand that it's harder to lose weight when you can't increase your level of movement. However, it's really not very much harder. May I be cheeky and suggest you don't really want to reduce your calorie intake? If you're serious about losing weight, you have to be prepared to approach your eating habits with creativity and discipline. If you're prepared to write the whole thing off as 'eating leaves' and 'I eat small amounts anyway', then I suspect you would be having problems losing weight regardless of disability. Losing weight through exercise without altering what you eat is not something I could ever do either.

There are many ways you can approach this and goodness knows, lots of information out there. I always find that cutting out dairy and refined has sugar has a positive impact (though you must boost calcium intake in other ways). If I want to lose weight, I eat something like this: oat and blueberry porridge in the morning (made with soya milk), lunch would be a salad with chicken, avocado, beansprouts, cucumber and tomatoes and dinner is pretty much anything provided it's dairy free and full of healthy vegetables. I would tend to halve the serving of potatoes/chips/pasta/rice though. Then I have a big mug of peppermint tea. Honestly, I always feel better for it. Whatever you do, you have to be prepared to do it for the long haul as quick fixes never work.

So I've lost about 4 stone since having my first baby and gained only about a stone with my second, which I've now lost. Im about a size 8/10. So the key is portion sizes - make them small small small. Don't snack unless it's a special occasion. And carry your kid in a sling (I carry my toddler in an ergo on my back) and walk absolutely everywhere fast. I probs walk at least 5 miles a day carrying a 13kg toddler on my back. It works so well.

Oops sorry just read about exercise issues. Sorry :( my bad. So, just reduce those calories big time!! I know it's boring but honestly it's worth it
