Just ad a ago as 1 of each of those would have hung spare until either of others had worn out / or become unfit for purpose.

And DS 14 worn the bloody lot bar 1 shirt in 3 days.

I am so gunna make him iron on sunday.

Are pants trousers

AgentZigzag · 06/09/2014 00:03

I'm not 100% sure WTF you're on about Grin but I'll go with your general message that 14 YOs are a frustrating and inevitably dramatic species.

YANBU.

WildThong · 06/09/2014 00:03

A boy that age needs clean clothes every day

AgentZigzag · 06/09/2014 00:03

That never even crossed my mind Piper, good question.

Hakluyt · 06/09/2014 00:04

Doesn't everyone wear 3 pairs of pants and three shirts in 3 days?

LadySybilLikesCake · 06/09/2014 00:07

Teenage boys honk, they need to change their shirts daily Confused You only need to wash every 3 days unless you buy him some more shirts.

BlackDaisies · 06/09/2014 00:08

Just because they're worn once doesn't mean they have to be washed, does it? Surely he can just wear them again?

Unless he's got BO - in which case you'll have to buy him some new deodorant. Or he's getting them filthy, in which case then yes, make him wash and iron them himself.

BTW - I have to confess I had to read your post several times to make sense of it - I thought I was drunk for a minute there, then I remembered I've only had tea this eve and no Wine !!

Vodkasquirts · 06/09/2014 00:09

Yea He has worn all uniform Items except 1 bloody shirt in 3 days.

I am bugged as at least 1 of each would of hung in wardrobe til Feb half term - I will have to go buy more at some point through the year. I dont want too.

And the "I am sweating" well wear proper deo instead of bloody Lynx and bath more than once a week and kid it will all be reet Wine

Good on him for changing if he's sweaty, believe me they aren't all that considerate Hmm

Either get him a set for everyday or shove a wash on midweek

(And yes I think pants are trousers, my DH calls them that a lot of the time and even now the kids are all Confused when he does it Grin )

Hakluyt · 06/09/2014 00:15

Seriously? Do people really wear the same shirt two days running?

Vodkasquirts · 06/09/2014 00:15

Yes but changes of clothes really dont help smells. they may act as a deterent but daily baths/showers/soap/toothpaste work much better rather thatn clean clothes on a sweaty bod. Smile

Seriously yes would expect 3 shirts/ 3 pants or trousers to last over 5 days. Personally I would call that reasonable!!!

Or i that dirty????

PiperIsOrange · 06/09/2014 00:34

Fresh trousers and short every day jumpers/cardigans as and when needed. My 2 DC are primary age and have always done this.

Gruntfuttock · 06/09/2014 00:35

Sorry, but he should definitely have a clean shirt every day as well as showering/bathing daily. Doesn't everyone?

AgentZigzag · 06/09/2014 00:37

Yeah, 5 shirts and 2 pairs of trousers over a week at school.

You don't want him to be the wiffy one at school because he's not allowed to change his clothes as much as he needs to.

Although given that he'd probably be one of a multitude wafting their lynx/impulse covered up BO smells in the enclosed space of a classroom Grin

cashmiriana · 06/09/2014 00:43

DD1 (15) has 3 pairs of trousers and 5 shirts.
DD2 (11) has 3 skirts and 3 shirts, with a couple of back up polo shirts. To be honest that's beginning to push it.
Clean shirts every day are essential for teens, surely? I only do one whites wash a week, as the cost of 2 extra shirts (£11 for the pair) is not that different to the detergent, fuel and water costs of running a half empty washing machine every week, plus it's less work for me. Actually, that's not strictly true as DC are just as likely to be putting the uniform on to wash as I am.

Bulbasaur · 06/09/2014 00:52

Shirts I wear once, pants I wear about 2 days before they're dirty. Shirts touch armpits which are sweaty and smelly. Add teen hormones in and yeah, one shirt per day is about right. Even with deodorant, you can't wear a shirt twice.

Just get 5 shirts or resign to doing laundry twice a week.

bloodyteenagers · 06/09/2014 01:22

So you have a smelly teen that is in school.. If it's like a lot of hs, the uniform consists of shirt, jumper and blazer. To be worn at all times. Even in a classroom that is stifling because the teacher will not let them take off the blazer. Now don't forget the blazers are not thin, and keep teens warm even in the middle of winter, with sub zero temperature and it's snowing.

He won't be idle during the day. He's either doing some walking (sweating) or lucky and sitting, albeit, still sweating in a car. Then every hour, they are moving around the school. Being a bit unlucky, it's a massive school, over a few floors and quiet some distance between classes, because lets face it, the practicalities was never a part of the design. They have 5 minutes to race around to the next lesson. So more sweat.. Then lunch break, hot cafeteria with a couple of hundred hot bodies. Had to race there from the 5th floor as only have 35 minutes for lunch and need to get to the next lesson. Which is more rushing about.. At some point PE is also a lesson. Change into PE kit. Run around get hot and sweaty. Back into changing room and back into uniform..Notice a step missing. Either the badly designed school has no shower, or there's no time.

So yes, buy the lad some more shirts. Might even want to think about more trousers as well. Teens. Hormones. Sweating. Ball cheese.

IAmNotAPrincessIAmAKahleesi · 06/09/2014 01:26

Don't underestimate just how sweaty teen boys get, it's not just normal sweat they are always running about- add in hormones and a morning shower and antiperspirant doesn't always cut it

At the secondary my boys go to they don't shower after pe, some of them even keep their kits on and just put the uniform on top to save time revolting creatures that they are

One of our house rules is that they have to have a clean school shirt every day

AgentZigzag · 06/09/2014 01:29

Fucking hell bloodyteenagers, reading your post makes me so glad I'm not at school any more.

And even a little bit pleased that the secondary I went to was so crap we didn't have blazers.

Although that's obviously a double edged sword.
